Global Mission Service for Young Adults

The Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program offers a unique opportunity for individuals aged 21-35 to engage in a year-long international service-learning experience. This initiative focuses on faith formation and community service within various churches and social service organizations worldwide.
Participants will collaborate with Lutheran partner organizations in one of several international locations, immersing themselves in diverse cultures while addressing critical social issues. Current program locations include regions such as Argentina & Uruguay, Central Europe, Mexico, Senegal, the United Kingdom, and Cambodia.

- Congregational Ministry
- Education
- Environmental Justice
- Professional Support & Communications
Throughout their service, participants will engage with pressing global challenges, including economic disparity, racial and gender privilege, and the complexities of globalization, all viewed through a lens of faith.
Program Goals:
The YAGM experience emphasizes the importance of building relationships and understanding the global community. Participants will have the chance to:
- Live and serve in an international context
- Utilize their skills and talents alongside local communities
- Deepen their faith and global awareness
- Engage in personal growth and self-discovery
This program is rooted in the values of Accompaniment, which seeks to foster mutual understanding and respect rather than impose external beliefs. Participants are encouraged to listen, learn, and grow from their experiences in a supportive environment.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 35 at the time of the program's initiation. Couples must submit individual applications and be married prior to the start of the program. The YAGM program covers essential expenses, including roundtrip travel, accommodation, meals, and health insurance, ensuring that participants can focus on their service without financial burdens.
