The IT Systems Assistant will provide assistance to the Information Technology Director in managing the organization’s Information Technologies resources and directly supporting staff and student end users. This position specializes in providing help desk support and in analyzing and solving systems, hardware, and various other technical IT problems.

The IT Systems Assistant responsibilities include:

  • Serve as first point of contact in providing excellent help desk support and customer service to staff and students
  • Identify, analyze, and solve systems/applications/hardware/network problems
  • Documenting solutions to problems and developing end-user guidelines
  • Perform software updates and maintenance, as needed
  • Performing repairs and upgrades of end user hardware
  • Assisting with deploying new computers, tablets, and phones
  • Assisting with documenting and maintaining inventory of IT hardware assets and accessories
  • Logging service requests and updating tickets as needed
  • Onboarding new employees
  • Carrying out other duties and various research projects and/or special projects as assigned by the Information Technology Director

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Knowledge of basic technology support skills and techniques
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating systems, Mac OS, and Microsoft Office
  • Functional understanding or experience with Active Directory
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP networks
  • Proficiency troubleshooting PC related hardware issues
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize technology needs/requests and escalate, where needed
  • Excellent time-management, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with others
  • Able to work well independently with minimal supervision

Work Environment

This job operates from an office at Summit Academy OIC. The person in this role will be expected to attend meetings and events off-site.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds as well as carry, push, pull, kneel and squat
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • On occasion assisting in low voltage wiring and hardware troubleshooting. This includes working on ladders
  • Service requests often require physical presence and you will need to physically move to a user’s office or a shared printer, in order to assist them with a particular issue.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This position is classified as full-time, non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and is eligible for overtime pay in hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.

Travel

Limited local travel may be required.

Required Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED, Associates degree in an IT related program preferred
  • Completion of an Information Technology related training program
  • Experience in a similar position
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic technology support skills and techniques
