Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescriptionReports to: Aquatics Director  Position Summary:Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, this position assists with Masters Swim Practice groups; providing quality and consistency in all assigned workouts for all levels of ability.

Key ResponsibilitiesThe Masters Practice Coordinator will ensure success in the following areas of responsibility to support a strong Y Experience: 

·       Performance Achievement- Designs and implements workouts for each practice.  Maintains a clear and consistent line of communication with Aquatic & Executive director. Exercises good judgment, competence in meeting the goals, objectives, needs and interest of the YMCA, the team as a whole and the individual program participant.·       Member Service and Experience- Responds to all member concerns promptly and effectively solves problems that improve the Y experience, working in partnership with center leadership. Ensures YMCA of Greater Boston’s standards of excellence around scheduling, cleanliness and safety are met. Communicates and elevates any safety concerns, facility, or equipment maintenance issues to appropriate team members. Engage in active listening with members in order to build relationships, understand each individual’s goals and interests and take the initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals.·       Compliance - Adheres to all YGB pool rules and policies, and MA DPH requirements. Knows and activates the center and pool EAP when needed. Ensures compliance with all YMCA safety standards and best practices, and regulatory health and safety requirements in the aquatics facilities. ·       Program Development- Program changes may be made with approval from the Aquatics Director and in collaboration with center leadership. ·       All other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Education/Experience: ·       At least 18 years of age.·       Previous experience teaching swim lessons or swim team required. ·       Competitive swimming or coaching experience preferred. ·       CPR/AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen required within 90 days of hire. ·       Participate in all center safety and quality drills.·       Attend all required in-service trainings and any additional trainings as required. 

Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
·       Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem solve and possess effective time management skills. ·       Must enjoy working with people, including swimmers of all ages, levels, and abilities. 
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing environments.
  • Ability to effectively motivate a team.
 Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  

  • Ability to physically and verbally interact with members and staff.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to scan the pool visually.
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended period of time
 

Work Environment/Schedule:  
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. 
·       Shifts vary, but may include early mornings, nights, and weekends.·       Travel will be necessary to meets and/or practice sites; must have reliable transportation.
