Garrett Harker and ES Hospitality have begun opening several exciting hospitality venues just steps from Kenmore Square and Fenway Park. Among these, is the return of Eastern Standard Kitchen and Drinks and the craft cocktail bar, Equal Measure. Best known for Eastern Standard, Island Creek Oyster Bar and The Hawthorne, Garrett is once again bringing enlightened hospitality and high energy operations to the Fenway neighborhood. Garrett is joined by Beverage Director Jackson Cannon and Culinary Director Brian Rae in the operation of these concepts.

 

About the Position: 

Eastern Standard is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager. This will be a dynamic, multi-concept role as the position will be responsible for supporting the General Manager in the day to day management and operation of not only Eastern Standard, but also the cocktail bar Equal Measure and the restaurant’s private dining program. There will also be the potential for additional growth opportunities as the group plans to expand and open an additional space in the near future. This is a role for a candidate looking for the next challenge in their career and someone who is eager to work with talented food and beverage colleagues in a legacy restaurant with a multi-daypart, multi-venue layout.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the GM in overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of Eastern Standard, Equal Measure and the group’s private dining space

  • Assist in executing new restaurant initiatives and service protocols through staff training

  • Lead by example on the floor, maintaining a hands on presence and assisting wherever necessary

  • Guide and empower the FOH staff to be advocates for their guests, providing them with the tools to create memorable experiences

  • Work closely and collaboratively with the entire management team, both FOH and BOH

  • Take part in inventory and ordering processes as necessary

  • Focus on cultivating meaningful relationships with guests through guest interaction with the goal of creating returning diners and regulars

  • Work to promote the ES hospitality brand in the neighborhood, identifying opportunities to encourage new business 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 2 years experience working in restaurant management preferred

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Highly organized with good attention to detail 

  • Strong problem solving and skills
