About the Position

We are seeking a successful Sr. Utility Coordinator who will provide coordination services on GDOT projects, including MOU's, Field Coordination, participating in OAC meetings and acting as a liaison with local and state regulatory agencies. The position will have responsibility for providing oversight for all utility design and construction activities on GDOT, Design/Build (D/B), Public-Private Partnership (P3) and/or Design/Bid/Build (DBB) projects.

This is a long-term, full-time, onsite position located in Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical work related to utility existing locations, adjustments, relocations, and new installations that may be needed in conjunction with transportation projects.
  • Oversee several utility coordination projects and coordinate with transportation design and construction teams on the locations and potential impacts on utilities.
  • Assist with the preparation of Utility Memorandum of Understanding and Utility Analysis documents between GDOT, Local Governments and Utilities for upcoming Projects.
  • Assist GDOT State Utilities Office with Railroad Coordination efforts on projects involving railroads.
  • Serve as the Utility Manager for several GDOT projects. Perform field reviews and general oversight of utility relocations and utility related incidents.
  • Identify and mitigate utility risks or challenges that may impact the project scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Facilitate resolution of Utility issues during design and construction.
  • Coordinate with the Design-Build team and the utility owners to develop a comprehensive and realistic Utility Adjustment Schedule (UAS) that aligns with the project design and construction schedule.
  • Attend Project progress meetings to monitor status of utility relocation work milestones and deadlines and address any notice of potential utility impacts to the projects' schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with the GDOT utility coordination manuals and guidance on Design Build projects.
  • Track first and second utility submittals and responses.
  • Performs review of e-builder Utility and other related Processes and Documents for compliance with Project Contract, GDOT policies and procedures and Federal regulations for all projects.
  • Participate in Bluebeam Reviews of Utility or related Submittals and provide comments.
  • Review and provide comments on Utility Permit requests for projects as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates or relevant technical degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in utility coordination or related roles.
  • High proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience using current design software like MicroStation/CAiCE or similar (used to view and revise plans as needed).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related program.
  • Competent with MS Project and Primavera P6 scheduling applications.
  • Experience with Bluebeam and/or Adobe.
  • Experience or proficiency with E-Builder.
  • Experience with utility coordination on GDOT projects.
  • Thorough understanding of Georgia DOT's Utility Accommodation Policy and Standards.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Compensation Details

The salary range listed for this role is $100-135K annually. It is not common for starting salaries to come in at the very top of the range; they usually fall somewhere in the middle. The final salary offered is based on multiple factors and is thoughtfully aligned with each candidate's level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, etc.
