WEAVE, founded in 1978, is Sacramento’s primary provider of services supporting domestic and sexual violence survivors. The organization offers 24/7 support and response, an emergency safehouse program, counseling, legal services, and much more to some of the most vulnerable members of Sacramento’s many communities. WEAVE has grown significantly in recent years, expanding services and capacity to meet community needs. With diverse programs and an organizational commitment to excellence, WEAVE is leading the way in service standards.

The Role: Under the direction of the IDEA Manager, the IDEA Advocate will provide trauma informed, culturally responsive supportive services to un/underserved survivors and those at risk of sexual assault, domestic violence and sex trafficking. Culturally responsive services include advocacy, emotional support, crisis intervention (includes de-escalation, safety planning, and accessing emergency shelter), internal/external referrals, and assistance with applying for CalVCB. The IDEA Advocate will also convene community engagement and outreach activities including facilitating educational groups such as Celebrating Families providing training, maintaining a presence at community partner sites (embedded advocacy), attending Multidisciplinary Team Meetings, and other outreach events.


Qualifications:

  • Any combination of education and experience to meet job requirements such as BA/BS degree and 2 years’ experience or 3-5 years of direct service experience.
  • Experience working in crisis intervention and with survivors of trauma, including domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and high degree of professionalism.
  • Commitment to Equity and Inclusion work.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Reflective of communities served.
  • Regular attendance.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Suite.
  • Complete WEAVE’s 69-hour peer counselor training program and pass background check (post-hiring requirement).
  • Annual completion of WEAVE’s continuing education requirements to maintain Peer Counselor certification.
  • Successful completion of Defensive Driving Training (post-hire requirement.)
  • Valid California Driver’s license and reliable transportation, including vehicle insurance.


Compensation:

The starting pay range for this position is $22.40-$26.34/hr.
