Position Overview

The Equity and Inclusion Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access (DEIA) Unit. This position is responsible for providing confidential assistance to the DEIA Director and collaborating closely with various committees and employee resource groups. The Coordinator will serve as a key liaison between the DEIA Committee, Employee Resource Groups, Employee Engagement Committee, and Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities

The essential functions of the Equity and Inclusion Coordinator include:

  • Overseeing administrative processes and projects for the DEIA Director and team.
  • Coordinating internal and external meetings, training sessions, and events, managing complex scheduling and logistics.
  • Safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Preparing accessible reports, correspondence, and documents.
  • Establishing and managing electronic filing systems and administrative processes.
  • Handling budget management and recordkeeping for administrative forms and purchase orders.
  • Gathering information and responding to inquiries.
  • Providing technical support for DEIA-related websites and resources.
  • Ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED, with at least 5 years of experience in an executive support role or human resources.
  • Practical knowledge of DEIA principles and practices.
  • Commitment to addressing the intersectionality of disability and other marginalized communities.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both virtually and in-person.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in technology and software, including Microsoft 365 and Zoom.

Desirable Attributes

While not required, the following attributes are preferred:

  • Experience in collaborative team environments and building relationships.
  • Understanding of best practices in DEIA.
  • Involvement in Employee Resource Groups or diversity initiatives.
  • Knowledge of project management.
  • Experience in nonprofit or social justice organizations.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel may be necessary for meetings and training events.

Working Conditions

The role may involve working in various settings, including remote and community-based environments, with regular communication through online platforms.
