About the Role

Disability Rights California (DRC) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Diversity Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access (DEIA) Unit, you will provide high-level confidential support to the DEIA Director and team, and act as a thought partner and liaison between the DEIA Committee, Employee Resource Groups, Employee Engagement Committee, and Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Support: Manage various administrative processes and projects for the DEIA Director and unit, including coordinating regular internal and external meetings, training, video conference calls, and events.
  • Communication and Coordination: Employ discretion and protect sensitive and confidential information received and generated, and prepare reports, correspondence, surveys, forms, and charts to ensure documents are accessible for people with disabilities.
  • Technical Assistance and Support: Provide technical assistance and support for the DEIA website, Employee Resource Groups, Committees, and unit, and act as a liaison between units, contact for internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Compliance and Policy: Ensure compliance with all organizational administrative and financial policies, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus 5 years' experience and/or training as an assistant to executive-level personnel or in human resources related field; Associate degree (AA) in related subject may substitute for 2 years' experience.
  • DEIA Principles and Practices: Practical experience with DEIA principles and practices, and lived experience and/or demonstrated commitment to the intersectionality of disability and other marginalized communities or groups.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal communication skills both virtually and in-person, and demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively with a variety of organizations and individuals with diverse perspectives.
  • Technology and Software: Working knowledge and ability to use technology and software, including a high level of proficiency with Zoom, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word).
Desirable Qualifications
  • Team Environment and Collaboration: Experience working in a team environment, building relationships, influencing key partners, and demonstrating the ability to get results through collaboration.
  • Industry Benchmarks and Best Practices: A solid understanding of industry benchmarks, best practices, and innovations in DEIA.
  • Leadership and Membership: Leadership, membership, or experience in Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), affinity groups, diversity committees or staff-lead initiatives.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of project management practices.
  • Nonprofit and Social Justice Experience: Experience working in a nonprofit, social justice, or legal services organization.
