Job Summary:
As the Senior Manager, Accounts Payable, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our Accounts Payable (AP) function. You will oversee the AP team, ensuring efficient processing of high-volume transactions, maintaining robust internal controls, and driving process improvements. Your expertise in AP processing, process design, systems implementation, and technical accounting will be essential in scaling our financial operations to support the company's rapid growth and expansion.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Accounts Payable department, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations.
- Design and implement internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
- Lead process redesign initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the AP function through continuous improvement efforts, particularly in a high-volume environment.
- Develop and enforce AP policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and adherence to best practices.
- Manage and mentor the AP team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture and professional development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to support business operations and financial reporting requirements.
- Analyze and resolve complex AP issues, including discrepancies, vendor disputes, and compliance matters.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and other relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Utilize and optimize AP systems and technology to streamline processes and improve accuracy.
- Prepare and present reports on AP metrics and performance to senior management.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Minimum of 10 years of direct Accounts Payable oversight experience.
- At least 5 years of experience specifically in AP management.
- Proven experience in managing AP processes in companies with at least $250 million in revenue.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with a proven track record of developing and leading high-performing teams.
- In-depth knowledge of Accounts Payable processes, internal controls, and best practices.
- Experience in process design and systems implementation, particularly in high-volume AP environments.
- Strong technical accounting skills, with a solid understanding of GAAP and other relevant standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency with full-scale ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle, with Dynamics BC strongly preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of direct AP oversight experience, with a significant portion in high-volume environments.
- Proven experience in process redesign and systems implementation within the AP function.
- Strong technical accounting background, with experience in compliance and regulatory matters.
- Experience in Fortune 500 or large public companies is preferred.
