San Mateo, United States Backblaze Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

About Backblaze

Backblaze is the object storage leader in the open cloud movement, fueling customer success with cloud storage built purposefully to unlock budgets, unburden administrators, and unleash innovators. Together with our partners, we’re helping customers break free from the restrictive, overpriced legacy solutions that hold them back, and blaze forward with the full power of the open cloud in their hands.

Founded in 2007, we scaled the business with less than $3 million in outside funding until 2021, when we did a traditional IPO on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Today, Backblaze generates over $100m in revenue and is the leading specialized storage cloud - managing over three billion gigabytes of data storage for 500K+ customers in 175+ countries, including businesses, developers, IT professionals, and individuals.

But while there is a lot to celebrate in our past, there is almost as much opportunity ahead of us. We are seeking a Product Marketing Manager, M&E

If you’re a talented Product Marketer who’s determined to have impact AND fun, this is your opportunity.

About The Role

You’ll lead storage product and solution marketing for business offerings that work seamlessly with leading media production software and hardware providers to help Media & Entertainment (M&E) teams create, safeguard, share, and/or monetize great content. You’ll own the outcomes as the person spearheading efforts to build out and build upon strategies, messaging, plans, programs, and materials in service of measurable goals—in collaboration with teammates across Marketing, Sales, Partnerships, and Product Management.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop compelling end user positioning and messaging of joint solutions, informed by strategy, market insights and customer research, and understanding of our products
  • Help define strategy for select customer targets based on in-depth win/loss analysis, development of personas and ICPs, and deep understanding of solution areas and customer journeys
  • Drive high-impact go-to-market plans and execute programs to move the business—with a team of resources supporting your vision and the objectives and goals you define
  • Roll up your sleeves and personally deliver priority tactics and collateral—ie: web pages and tests, emails, blog posts, webinars, and a few big events a year
  • Be the expert and internal advocate of your key customer segments, including owning personas and ICPs, and driving research to inform or update understanding and efforts
  • Help enable customer-facing teams with talking points and other materials for the products under you, and support Sales and Partner Marketing colleagues on key co-marketing initiatives
  • Manage marketing campaign spending to deliver on ROI targets within budget

The Right Fit:

  • 5+ years of technology marketing experience, incl. 3+ years in a dedicated product marketing role
  • Significant media storage, management, or workflow experience preferred
  • Strong track record favorably impacting customer and pipeline outcomes via positioning and messaging, campaign planning and execution, and overall thought leadership
  • Data-oriented—comfortable interpreting, summarizing, and driving meaningful actions from data
  • Skillful planning and carrying out multiple initiatives or programs concurrently
  • Ability to effectively engage with and influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bonus points for having previous presentation experience.
  • Strong orientation around team, delighting customers, and overall having a positive impact

At this point, we hope you're feeling excited about the job description you're reading. Even if you don't feel you meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. Learning, developing, and growing are key parts of our culture. We're eager to meet people who believe in our mission and can contribute to our team in various ways. We want people to feel comfortable expressing their true selves and to come, stay, and do their best work here.

Backblaze Perks:

  • 100% healthcare for family
  • Dental and vision plan
  • Competitive compensation and 401K
  • RSU grants for full-time employees
  • ESPP program
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Maternity & paternity leave
  • MacBook Pro to use for work plus a generous stipend to personalize your workstation
  • Childcare bonus (human children only)
  • Fertility treatment and support
  • Learning & development program
  • Commuter benefits
  • Culture that supports a healthy work-life balance
