JOB SUMMARY

The Ski and Snowboard School Manager is responsible for overseeing the Daily Lesson Program Department or the Seasonal Programs Department, and developing a welcoming and supportive environment for staff, members, and guests within the Ski and Snowboard School. This is achieved through coordination with Ski and Snowboard School Managers, Trainers, and Admins, by focusing on developing plans and procedures to execute all areas of the ski and snowboard school in a professional and industry leading manner including, reservations and sales, staff scheduling, payroll management, member communications, conflict resolution, staff training, performance evaluation, quality control, safety compliance, financial responsibility, communication, teamwork, and self-development. This position reports directly to the Director of Skier and Rider Services, and will work closely with the Member Services, Mountain Operations, and Food and Beverage departments to ensure effective cross-departmental communication and efficiencies are executed. The Ski and Snowboard School Manager is a key part of our Ski and Snowboard Schools success and can expect to work periodically with our Board of Directors Committees to report upon the success of the Ski and Snowboard school and develop plans for future development and success.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Execute day-to-day operations of the Daily Lesson or Seasonal Program departments by leading, coaching, and supporting supervisors, admin, and coaches.
• Ensure staffing management meets the membership lesson demand.
• Ensure hiring, onboarding, and training plans are executed to company standards.
• Develop positive professional relationships with Employees, Members, and Guests.
• Resolve member and guest complaints and conflicts by utilizing professionalism and adhering to company best practices.
• Develop, implement, and hold accountable employees for Ski and Snowboard School Policies.
• Ensure staff, supervisors, and admins are held accountable for following Company policies and best practices.
• Contribute to the annual review of Ski and Snowboard School programs.
• Contribute to the development and execution of new programs based on operational experience, feedback, and committee recommendations.
• Complete performance reviews for Seasonal Staff including supervisors, instructors, and admins.
• Promote and uphold PSIA-AASI standards.
• Actively engage in personal professional development.
• Responsible for the departmental area's daily cleanliness, professional appearance, and outdoor facility setup.
• Communicate effectively and build trust with leadership and subordinates through verbal and written communication, and department execution.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of two years' experience as a Snowsports Instructor working for a PSIA-AASI Member School.
• Minimum of two years' experience as a Snowsports School Supervisor or Department Manager.
• Minimum of PSIA/AASI Level 2 Certification or equivalent
• Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including excel, word, and power point.
• Must be fluent in English, both written and verbally.
• Must have excellent guest service and communication skills.
• Must have strong leadership skills.
• Must be able to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment.
• Must be able to pass a background check to be qualified to work with Children.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

PREFERRED SKILLS

• PSIA-AASI Level 3 certification or greater.
• PSIA-AASI Children's Specialist 2 Certification
• Prior experience leading a children's program.
• Experience with OnlySky Lesson Reservation System.
• Experience working in Private Clubs, or with a business with exceptional customer service.
• College degree in business management, recreation management, education, or a relevant field of study.
• Valid drivers license with no restrictions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONEMNT

• Must be able to work in an environment with:
  • Extended periods of exposure to outdoor winter weather environments which include sun, cold, snow, wind, rain, and other outdoor weather conditions and phenomena.
  • Regular participation in strenuous activities including skiing or snowboarding.
  • Regular participation in strenuous activities including walking and hiking on uneven terrain and slippery surfaces with tools and equipment.
  • Regular participation talking and hearing in noisy outdoor environments around snow making machines, chair lifts, and other noisy outdoor equipment.
• Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move an object weighing a minimum of 40lbs
  • Ability to Ski at the PSIA-AASI Alpine Level 2 standard on a regular basis.
  • Ability to operate computer equipment to effectively using electronic office software.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking, standing, walking, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Vision to supervise and monitor the progress of the participants, and assess terrain and obstacles through monitoring depth perception, short-, and long-range vision.
