Logistics Coordinator for School Transportation

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
To efficiently manage the dispatching of buses and personnel to fulfill designated transportation routes.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The qualifications outlined below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary for this role. Preferred background in transportation-related training or experience. Must possess or be willing to acquire a valid school bus driver's license. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities within a constrained timeframe. Effective communication skills are essential. Previous experience as a school bus driver or in school transportation is preferred. Must pass a Criminal Background Check and have no entries on the Child Abuse Registry. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To successfully execute this role, an individual must be capable of performing each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill the essential functions.
An individual must be able to effectively carry out the essential duties and responsibilities associated with this position. Additional tasks may be assigned by the Supervisor that align with the professional scope of the job.
1. Ensure timely service delivery for the school district's transportation system.
2. Contact substitute drivers and aides, assigning personnel to cover transportation runs.
3. Maintain precise attendance and assignment records for drivers and aides, fuel logs, and other essential documentation.
4. Engage with contractors, drivers, aides, school staff, community members, and parents/guardians through various communication methods.
5. Utilize two-way radios and cellular phones to communicate with bus drivers.
6. Assist in addressing on-road issues and emergencies, including accidents and breakdowns.
7. Provide necessary equipment and student information to drivers and aides.
8. Inform drivers of unique highway conditions and alternative routes as needed.
9. Schedule and confirm drivers and aides for extracurricular trips, such as field trips and sports events, in accordance with the Colonial Transportation Collaborative Agreement.
10. Be prepared to work outside of regular hours, including weekends and holidays, to dispatch for trips as required.
11. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Designee.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While executing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to communicate verbally, conveying detailed or important instructions accurately and clearly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities, including the capacity to learn, recall, and apply specific skills. Regular tasks include using hands and arms for handling, reaching, talking, and hearing. The employee is often required to stand, walk, and sit. Occasionally, the employee may need to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
