To provide a Refugee Health Services Program Coordinator. This Refugee Health Services Program Coordinator will support coordination of programming and operations of statewide refugee health screening programs, mental health services and refugee health promotion initiatives for refugees in Rhode Island.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate, promote, and improve Refugee Health Screening services working collaboratively with resettlement agencies, community health centers, refugee clinics, and private health professionals.
  • Coordinate technical assistance and training with support from the Program Manager around refugee health screenings, refugee health topics, data, and reporting.
  • Connect health professionals to training and TB technical support in partnership with the Department of Health's TB program. The Health Services Program Assistant will assist with program reports and TB surveillance data management, as needed.
  • Support with outreach to other Department of Health programs to expand services to meet needs and gaps of refugee communities.
  • Support with the coordination and data collection for Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) Refugee Health Promotion grant, refugee health screening and tuberculosis data collection, and quality assurance.
  • Create on going monthly newsletter communications on updated resources, trainings and funding opportunities for resettlement agencies, health care stakeholders, and refugee clinics.
  • Support with updates of refugee health related services communications in partnership with the Health Department 's communications team.
  • Support and coordinate ongoing capacity expansion of mental health resources for refugees.
  • Support the Office of Refugee Health with refugee health promotion related community events as requested by community partners and agencies.
  • Provide administrative support to the Office of Refugee Health when requested by internal and external partners.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong skillset in MS Office suite including Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Adobe required.
  • Fluency in English with excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Strong attention to detail; must be highly flexible, and able to prioritize and keep multiple assignments moving forward.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills; ability to work as a team member, with a high level of self-motivation and ability to meet goals and deadlines, and cross-cultural environment.
  • Organized self-starter and ability to identify needs and work independently.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and follow-through ability.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in administrative tasks including preparing agendas, taking meeting notes, scheduling meeting with external and internal partners, responding to requests from stakeholders.
  • Experience in editing and finalizing programmatic reports, workplans, spreadsheets, resource documents, presentations, and other written materials.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with health and human service organizations, including federal, state, local governments, non-profits and/or community, ethnic and faith-based organizations, and health clinics.
  • Reliable transportation, valid US driver's license required.
  • Experience working with refugee resettlement, refugee-serving programs or organizations preferred.
  • Master's in Public Health from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Previous role as program assistant, or operations leads preferred.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:

This is a 30 to 35 hour per week position. The work schedule is Monday through Friday. Must be flexible to work occasional weekends or evenings when office participates in approved community-based events. This is a hybrid telework position. Position requires in office days during the week.

Individual must be based in Rhode Island or commuting distance.
