Regional Emergency Shelter Team Rest in Yuba City, CA is looking for one rest transition coordinator – seasonal to join our 6 person strong team. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, motivated, and reliable.

Regional Emergency Shelter Team (REST) is a non-profit Christian organization providing services to needy people. The Winter Shelter program is a rotating shelter supported by churches and our community partners that runs for 18 weeks, providing housing opportunities to the homeless and those at risk of homelessness in Yuba and Sutter counties. We serve women, men at risk (agency referrals), veterans, and families each year at several rotating locations. We also work with Hands of Hope, which provides services to the homeless community throughout the year. The Transition Coordinator is the staff member who transitions the guests from Intake to the overnight shelter at our rotating various locations. The Transition Coordinator ensures that the REST guests are received from the transportation Driver and checked in using the intake sheet and van transport documentation. The Transition Coordinator is REST’s liaison with the host church evening crews that provide the nightly meals and fellowship. The Transition Coordinator ensures the guests sign up for chores at the host facility and monitors to ensure those chores are completed. The Transition Coordinator is responsible for reviewing the Guest Data information sheet from Intake to identify that everything is filled out and a photo is attached for each individual in family groups as well as for couples and single persons. The Transition Coordinator is responsible for entering data into the Bell System for record-keeping for our partner agencies, as well as updating Smartsheet Logs and other Apps for REST. 

Responsibilities

•       Get the host facility ready for the incoming guests that will be shuttled by the transportation driver, collect all paperwork and necessary bedding from Intake for new guests, and ensure the medication box is on the last transport  

•       Read the Smartsheet Daily Log from the Morning Portal, Intake, and Overnight before guests arrive  

•       Know the exit plan for the facility where the shelter is located that week

•       Maintain the transition schedule to ensure the host church and guests are on target for the dinner schedule, evening chores, and the lights-out rest period at 9:00 p.m.  

•       Update the Daily log when there are incidents, issues, and guests not following the policies and procedures during the shift and at the end of the Transition shift

•       Ensure that guests are using no electronics after the rest period begins at 9:00 p.m.

•       Responsible for reading the Smartsheet log Suspension/Expulsion log nightly

•       Update attendance for each guest nightly on the applications provided  

•       Support communication between each department by demonstrating the use of the Smartsheet Daily Log, Suspension/Expulsion Log, and other REST Apps used

•       Update the Bell System to maintain the HMIS data using the guest intake information datasheet

•       Maintain security and privacy of guest information all times on the computer, medication box, and the locked file boxes

•       Maintain the Medication boxes during the Transition Coordinator shift until the boxes are in the custody of the Overnight Supervisor

•       Retrieve guest medication after dinner hours, before the guest rest period, and any other time when requested by a guest, , documenting each request and securing medications after use

•       Get guests up promptly to ensure they are ready for transport back to Morning Portal, as outlined in Policy and Procedures

•       Attend mandated training for Transition Coordinator tasks and required job duties

•       Attend scheduled staff meetings during the season

•       Access the Transition Coordinator work schedule, clocking in and out appropriately using the time clock app in Homebase

•       Ensure that bedding is rotated for laundry based on Policy and Procedures 

Qualifications

•       Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Smartsheet, and along with Smartsheet App and Google Drive

•       Skills in data entry

•       Written and oral communication skills

•       Demonstrate that you can follow Policies and Procedures as outlined  

•       Ability to move and carry twenty-five pounds (25lbs)

•       Ability to work with others, be friendly, and associate with people from different environments 

Compensation:

The starting compensation is $16.50 per hour during the season starting on December 1st, 2024 to April 5th, 2025. All training provided before the season is paid time along with scheduled staff meetings. The candidate selected will have the opportunity during the summer for the unscheduled Cooling Center to pick up additional hours if you are available.
