Sales Manager – Small and Self-Contained Group (Western Region - Focus California)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sales Manager will be responsible for small group sales and booking for Western Region – Focus on California Corporate & Association market segment (175 peak rooms and less) through strategic planning, development, and direct selling within the target market.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for solicitation, sales, booking, and contracting for TSJ-managed facilities and individual hotels
  • Responsible for the room night production of sales territories within the target market.
  • Responsible for lead generation & follow-up for small/short-term meetings to hotel partners.
  • Review action plans and Personal Performance Objectives (PPOs) on a quarterly basis.
  • Attend and participate in sales training as scheduled
  • Serve as an Ambassador at all required functions attended locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Update, audit, and manage accounts as necessary within EBMS.
  • Documentation of all activities in the EBMS system with understanding of standards for calls, entertainment, and outside activities.
  • Coordinate and conduct site inspections as necessary.
  • Work with other sales managers as needed to assist with booking groups.
  • Meet weekly or as scheduled to review goals and provide updates on activities.
  • Maintain a cooperative, positive relationship with partner hotels.
  • Meet regularly with hotel counterparts and provide updates on groups and sales activities.
  • Attend industry meetings, conventions, and trade shows as necessary.
  • Participate in all internal meetings.
  • Understand and facilitate bookings for San Jose Hotels in EBMS system with proper training.
  • Manage production of annual room nights as determined for position and tracked on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • 2-3 years’ sales experience, preferably in hotels. Emphasis on selling small meetings; guest rooms, catering, and meeting space.
  • Working knowledge/awareness of the local association & corporate business.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Enthusiastic, dependable, positive team player.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills with accountability for all activities and decisions made.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and take the initiative.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Professional demeanor and personal presentation
