Job Summary:

Applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, test or evaluate military weapons systems. Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation. Applies engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management. Analyzes designs, develops, implements, tests, or evaluates software, components, or systems related to engineering or functional requirements of military weapons systems, associated support systems. May conduct basic and applied research to evaluate adaptability of materials and equipment to aircraft design and manufacture. May recommend improvements in testing equipment and techniques.


Essential Job Functions:

Relevant experience in some or all of the below fields is desired:

  • Military aircraft design criteria and specifications;
  • Derivation of aircraft mission profiles, corresponding repeated loads for aircraft/components, and repeated loads spectra;
  • Derivation of aerodynamic, ground, inertial, or vibro-acoustic design loads, including the effects of aero-elasticity;
  • Analysis of flight-test loads and parameters;
  • Design experience on metallic and composite airframe structures;
  • Structural analysis (i.e., strength, aero-elastic, aero-servo-elastic, vibro-acoustic, or dynamic response analyses) and/or finite element modeling;
  • Fatigue/durability and damage tolerance analysis;
  • Probability and statistics;
  • Full scale aircraft or major airframe component static, dynamic, or fatigue testing;
  • Aircraft flight loads monitoring systems.

Requirements:

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS or BA degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related scientific discipline required.
  • Experience: At least three (3) year of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit, walk, see, hear, and feel. Occasionally will need to lift and move up to 50lbs. Moderate lab environment temperature and noise level. Must be able to interpret data, information, and documents. Can learn and apply new information and skills.
