Monday: 9:00am - 6:00pm

Position Overview:
As a Medical Assistant, you will provide direct patient care, assist the reception team with front desk duties, support providers with in-office procedures, and perform necessary in-office testing.
Job Responsibilities:
- Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for healthcare visits, help position them for examinations or treatments, and arrange exam room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Patient Verification: Verify patient information by reviewing and recording medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming the purpose of the visit.
- Assisting Providers: Assist providers with patient care, prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, dispose of contaminated supplies, sterilize medical instruments, administer medications, authorize drug refills, telephone prescriptions to pharmacies, draw blood, prepare patients for x-rays, take electrocardiograms, remove sutures, and change dressings.
- Patient Education: Educate patients by providing medication and diet information, answering questions, and ensuring patients understand their care instructions.
- Medical Records: Update medical records by recording patient examination and treatment plans, as well as test results.
- Referrals: Answer patient questions about referrals and initiate the referral process with patients and specialists.
- Billing and Insurance: Record billing information for services rendered, complete insurance forms, and respond to inquiries from insurance companies and other third parties.
- Supply Management: Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain equipment in good condition, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and call for repairs.
- Patient Confidentiality: Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
- Professional Development: Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Additional Duties: Perform all other clinical duties as assigned by Vanguard Medical Group.
Skills/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Degree from an accredited Medical Assistant Program
- 1-2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred
- Working knowledge of an EMR system, Athena experience preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and telephone skills
