Cayuga Health System began by joining two longstanding, independent hospitals into a cohesive health-care network providing seamless, comprehensive, community centered care for the residents of central New York. With the recent affiliation of Arnot Health and the establishment of Xtensys, an organization focused on the integration and strategic operations of this expanding health system, we are poised to become the premier care organization across New York.
The Team Lead is responsible for preparation of instruments, linen set-up and all equipment necessary to perform any surgical procedure. These responsibilities include the maintenance of aseptic technique in all surgical scrub procedures. Independent judgment is exercised under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Maintains standards of care for the operative patient following AORN standards/recommendations.
- Anticipates surgeon and anesthesia needs with the aid of preference cards, prior to scrubbing into cases - collects and assembles needed supplies, instrumentation and equipment for each procedure.
- Assist with positioning and prep of the patient as necessary, demonstrates knowledge and ability to apply proper handling of supplies and equipment necessary for a surgical procedure while responding appropriately to changes in patient needs during the operative procedures
- Follow AORN Guidelines/Hospital policy and procedure for surgical hand scrub, surgical counts and adherence to Surgical Time Out Procedures.
- Demonstrates universal precautions and infection control techniques in daily patient care activities and uses proper lifting techniques while anticipates potential and actual safety hazards
- Is accountable for all information/in-service education/CNOR/AORN information. Teaching packets disseminated via computer, postings, staff meetings, etc.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical: Repetitive use of hands and fingers, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay Range Disclosure:
- $32.00 to $41.28 per hour
