SUMMARY

Seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a leading role in the design and development of new products, equipment, structural and equipment upgrades to defense equipment and vehicles, from requirements and concept, detail design, to manufacturing and prototype test. This is a design, R&D, hands-on testing, focused heavily on the new product development/upgrades of defense equipment. The mechanical engineer is a hands-on team member who uses technical and administrative skills to assist in the oversight and completion of engineering projects for a motor vehicle manufacturer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform a broad range of design and review tasks associated with the implementation of standard techniques, procedures and/or criteria as they apply to the technical aspects
  • Design Components, systems and assemblies, modified parts, or new designs, into applications
  • Use own knowledge and information supplied relative to the technical or administrative aspects of the program to perform technical studies and analysis, prepare inputs to program documentation as it relates to the documentation and design of mechanisms, structures and integration of systems.
  • Generate BOMS, schematics and technical drawings and maps to communicate designs to the rest of the organization, including purchasing and technician installation.
  • Hands on first article installation and development. Devise, execute and document testing of prototype components and systems
  • Review final documents or data deliverables for completeness and compliance
  • Participate in and lead meetings, design reviews, and briefings
  • Identify and report on issues or related problems and potential risks, and recommend risk-mitigation
  • Work in a team environment, under general guidelines set by the Chief Engineer to have a high degree of initiative in the execution of responsibilities to given deadlines.
  • Modify and/or adapt techniques and standard approaches to solve moderately difficult problems encountered

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Engineering (mechanics, mechanical design) four-year degree.
  • This position may require Security Clearance; therefore U.S. citizenship is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum six (6) years of experience as follows:
  • Developing new products and generate a production quality technical data package with drawing tree, BOM and complete drawing package
  • Solid Works CAD proficiency
  • Virtual manipulation and generation of complex formed parts and surfaces
  • Clean sheet new parts generation in SolidWorks, with FEA and fundamental structural analysis desirable.
  • Systems engineering with gated or milestone driven processes.
  • Improve existing products through cost and benefit analysis
  • Interfacing with other engineering, marketing, and manufacturing departments
  • Conducting trade studies and justify decisions and recommendations
  • Defining system requirements and subsystem configurations based on top level customer requirements
  • Performing and supporting system level integration
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong individual drive and team player with strong organizational skills
