Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Shelby, North Carolina

Compensation: $90-$120k, plus bonus and relocation

JOB SUMMARY:
Oversee, organize, and manage manufacturing operations within a production facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identify and implement best practices, assess, and enhance manufacturing techniques for assembly, fabrication, and cutting sectors. Provide training to staff on these practices.
  • Create and maintain welding and assembly jigs and fixtures.
  • Develop and manage multi-level bills of materials; communicate modifications using the Manufacturing Change Order Process.
  • Conduct time studies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Establish schedules for assembly, fabrication, and cutting operations.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events across various manufacturing domains.
  • Estimate production timelines, staffing needs, and associated costs to inform management decisions. Research and develop project budgets.
  • Assist the estimating department with daily inquiries.
  • Draft capital expenditure requests and provide justification.
  • Support Engineering Order process meetings and execution through the Manufacturing Change Order Process.
  • Revise or create manufacturing work instructions for existing or new assemblies and fabrication processes. Analyze and plan workforce utilization, spatial requirements, and workflow.
  • Design the layout of equipment and workspace to maximize efficiency.
  • Collaborate with planning and design teams regarding product design and tooling to ensure effective production methods.
  • Engage with suppliers to ascertain product specifications and coordinate the procurement of equipment, materials, or components, while evaluating products against specifications and quality standards. Assist with production supply needs (tools, supplies, tool maintenance, etc.).
  • Consult with management, engineering, and other personnel regarding manufacturing capabilities, production timelines, and other factors to streamline production processes.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager and supervisors to align with the company's objectives.
  • Utilize statistical methods to forecast future manufacturing needs and potentials.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering with five to seven years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical data packages, schematics, and drawings.
  • Ability to comprehend safety regulations, operational and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Capable of drafting routine reports and correspondence, and effectively communicating before groups.
  • Competent in basic mathematical operations and able to interpret data visually through graphs.
  • Ability to apply logical reasoning to execute instructions provided in various formats. Capable of addressing problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to establish trust with manufacturing personnel to effectively support their daily requirements.
  • Basic data entry skills are required; proficiency in Microsoft Office and drafting skills (preferably CAD).
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, with knowledge of various electrical and mechanical processes, assembly techniques, and hand tool usage.
