Summary of Position:
The Project Accountant serves as a key member of the accounting team. This position is responsible for assisting with full cycle accounting tasks under the supervision of the Division Controller. The Project Accountant is an essential role in ensuring that all accounting tasks are completed accurately and by established deadlines.

Responsibilities:
- Process monthly billings and cost projections in conjunction with Construction and Design Project Managers.
- Set up construction projects including revenue, cost and forecast budgets by task.
- Review and process all requests for payment to contractors and vendors for projects.
- Generate job costs reports in various formats and update reports as needed.
- Perform job cost reconciliations and analysis.
- Process AR bank transactions including wire and ACH transfers.
- Compile statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable, and profits and losses.
- Code documents according to company procedures.
- Access computerized financial information to answer general questions as well as those related to specific construction projects.
- Analyze and maintain project accounting records.
- Prepare purchase orders and expense reports.
- Convey information in a clear, positive and respectful manner.
- Assist with month end/quarter end close, including entering and posting journal entries, bank reconciliations, GL reconciliations, job cost entries and intercompany transfers.
- Monitor and measure job costs against budget, analyze trends and report variances.
- Assist with monthly WIP calculations using % of completion accounting.
- Assist with budgets and forecasts.
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Able to serve as notary as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Accounting experience, preferably with an engineering, architecture and/or construction firm.
- Experience with engineering/architecture industry specific accounting software preferred; specifically, experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or Vision Software preferred.
- Proficient experience with Excel and MS Word.

This is a hybrid role that will be based out of our Ontario, CA office.
