The United Center, a premiere sports and entertainment facility and home of the Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago Bulls, is looking for someone with a passion for Housekeeping and sports to fill a key role as the Assistant Manager, Housekeeping.


General Responsibilities:

Assists with the overall responsibility of the Housekeeping Department. This department is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the interior and exterior appearance of the facility to provide clean and safe environment for our guests and employees at the United Center (arena and offices) and Advocate Center.

Specific Duties: (Include but not limited to)

  • Assist with conversions for Bulls and Blackhawks games and load ins/load outs for concerts and other special events.
  • Maintain housekeeping storage rooms as assigned in orderly fashion at all times.
  • Assist with orienting all new crew members to the department policies and procedures.
  • Fill in for Housekeeping Manager during day shift /night shift, as needed as well as provide relief for management vacations, off days and sick time.
  • Follow cleaning and disinfecting guidelines from CDC, EPA, ISSA, OSHA, and NBA/NHL.
  • Provide relief for smaller events/meetings (500 people+) within United Center, Atrium, Office Building, Advocate Center and for outdoor events (parking lots)
  • Oversee quality control of post event clean up in the Arena seating, concourses, suites, locker rooms, dock, and other areas inside and outside of the facility.
  • Directly supervise office crew, detail crew, utility crew, as well as contract services (bowl crew, floor crew, event suites, and post event suites)
  • Oversee Housekeeping Operations pre-event, during, and post-event.
  • Assist in sceduling in the absence of the Housekeeping Manager.
  • Assure cleanliness of Office Building and Atrium between 5am-6pm (trash, recycling, restrooms, office areas, etc.,) per schedule
  • Directly communicate with Event Operations Manager regarding events at Atrium, Advocate, and Blackhawks Training Facility involving Housekeeping Department.
  • Available to work flexible shifts and hours per business needs (event calendar)
  • Assist with scheduling of event staff in absence of Housekeeping Manager.
  • Assure building readiness for event doors.
  • Manage by walking around (MBWA) – arena, concourses, restrooms, gates, lobbies, suite levels, office areas, atrium and close perimeter of the building.
  • Respond to calls from internal customers over the radio, assign and follow up on completion of tasks.
  • Periodically follow up with internal customers/reps to assure the highest level of satisfaction.
  • Frequently communicate w/immediate supervisor and/or department director for any immediate assignments/projects and goals.
  • Assist with meeting/banquet set ups within entire campus.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises 10 or more non-supervisory Team Members in the Housekeeping Department at the United Center as well as supervision of Contract Services.

The work environment contains a loud noise level The individual must have the ability to work with computer software, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel.


Experience:

  • Three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bi-lingual – English & Spanish preferred
