Who we are looking for…

FH seeks an experienced VP, Private Investing, Marketing and External Communication that provides leadership and oversight of private resource development strategies and fundraising activities, including: creating, planning and managing successful initiatives in areas including major gifts, midlevel gifts, planned giving, foundations, and other privately restricted grants, annual giving, and special events related to private donor fundraising. As Vice President, this role is ultimately responsible for private resource development generated across all channels. The qualified VP will have at least a minimum of 12 years of development and/or fundraising experience in obtaining funding donations, and leading private revenue and fundraising campaigns. The qualified candidate will also have experience planning diverse fundraising campaigns for private and public, corporate donors.

  • Managing change: Substantial proven ability in successfully managing and leading organizational development and change.

  • Organizational skills: Excellent organizational skills; ability to plan and coordinate the efficient flow of projects and processes.

  • Supervisor Skills: Directly and indirectly supervises staff in the following areas: Major Gifts, Mid-level Donors, Organization partnership, Foundations, Corporate partnerships and Marketing/Branding and Communications.


What you’ll do…

As the VP, you will:


Oversee organization-wide development and fundraising goals to advance Food for the Hungry’s mission, working across teams with the senior leadership to:

  • establish goals, investments, a case for support, and strategies that help reach organizational goals and fundraising targets

  • lead a team of development professionals toward the establishment and execution of strategies to grow the pipeline of potential and existing sponsors and donors, and meet fundraising targets for related entities

  • foster a culture of philanthropy that fully engages the foundation's diverse constituencies and stakeholders

  • communicate and share progress with the Chief Growth Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, on outcomes, trends, opportunities, and risks for development and fundraising

  • keep track of external data and metrics that can inform or provide insights on changes in philanthropy or giving

  • provide the team with resources, training, guidance, and support that ensures organizational success in meeting goals

  • work to advance the Food for the Hungry mission through revenue growth, and work with risk management team members when needed for compliance reasons to ensure ethical standards

Fundraising

  • Ensure the organization’s strategy is proactive, and develop an ambitious vision to engage current and prospective donors, and elevate the organization’s profile

  • and compliance are met with gifts and the stewardship of giving.

Strategy

  • Work with the Chief Growth Officer (CGO) and other senior leaders to create and implement strategies, establish priorities, and play a key leadership role in the organization’s private income growth globally.

Operations

  • Develop, oversee and maintain effective external communication strategies for the purpose of acquiring and retaining donors and influencing target audiences.

Talent Development

  • Ensure the Private Resource Development team has the right people, in the right positions, at the right time, doing the right things.
