Position Purpose:

The Manager will be responsible for managing multiple projects and client engagements simultaneously, and scheduling, staffing, and coordinating engagement work flow. The Manager supports the Firm’s goals and values through all professional communications and the maintenance of positive working relationships.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Perform higher level engagements and expand ability to perform or supervise new types of engagements, and multiple engagements simultaneously.
  2. Responsible for all phases of an engagement. Plans, supervises, review and controls engagements of all sizes and complexities for compliance with all professional and firm standards, including budgeting and job realization.
  3. Plan, schedule and staff engagements using firm policies and procedures.
  4. Perform more difficult or complex accounting and tax procedures: understands complex accounting/auditing/tax matters and their application to client situations.
  5. Maintain contact with clients throughout the year and communicate progress of engagements, problems, and resolutions to client.
  6. Possess a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of client’s business: proactively identifying client needs and providing valuable ideas on an ongoing basis.
  7. Manage staff, including their career development, training and professional development, productivity and performance.
  8. Present financial reports to clients at wrap-up meetings and board presentations.
  9. Keep partner informed of all important developments on engagement; analyze problems and recommend solutions.
  10. Prepare invoices to clients, communicate details of fees to clients, and assist in collection of overdue accounts as requested by the partner.
  11. Possess a complete knowledge of the Firm’s philosophy and its opinions on financial, tax and consulting matters.
  12. Maintain knowledge of general economic conditions, political trends of possible tax or other legislation that could affect the business climate.
  13. Develop a specific area of technical expertise or concentration in servicing a segment of clients.
  14. Continue to develop and execute personal marketing plan/program and develop an awareness of Firm marketing strategies.
  15. Participate in firm marketing efforts to generate new client revenue and expand revenue from existing clients.
  16. Participate in firm related functions and events
  17. Attend functions and events that promote the Firm with clients, potential clients and peers.
  18. Active involvement in community and trade, industry or professional groups.

Other Responsibilities:

The Manager is expected to display a working knowledge or requisite software and internal work flow/procedures and must be familiar with IRS Circular 230 Regulations Governing the Practice of Attorneys, Certified Public Accountants, Actuaries and Enrolled Agents Before the IRS and the AICPA Professional Code of Conduct. The Manager may also be required to participate in speaking, article writing, newspaper quotations and seminar presentations, participate in staff performance evaluations, and other duties as may be assigned. It is the individual responsibility of every employee to maintain a current awareness and understanding of and to fully comply with the company’s code of ethics, independence rules and quality control practices.

Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or other appropriate area of study plus job experience.

Certification: A Certified Public Accountant license or appropriate professional designation is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of (6) years professional experience, technically proficient, demonstrating a progression in complexity, scope and number of engagements managed, with extensive supervisory skills and marketing experience. Working knowledge of basic office technology (Excel and Word), accounting and tax software programs.
