Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a dynamic individual who excels in both teaching and counseling, with a passion for fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment. This unique position combines the roles of an ELA teacher and a student counselor, making it ideal for someone who values holistic education and student well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach English Language Arts (approximately 1.5 hours per day), implementing differentiated instruction to meet the needs of a diverse, multi-grade classroom.
- Develop and implement curricula for your ELA class that challenge and support students, encouraging them to become skilled and confident writers and fostering a love of reading.
- Implement restorative practices to build a supportive and inclusive community, focusing on conflict resolution, accountability, and personal growth to foster engaged learning over suspension.
- Collaborate with the academic team to create and adapt curricula, demonstrating creativity and independence in your teaching approach.
- Provide counseling and student support, drawing on extensive experience with children ages 5 to 14.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and maintain regular, professional communication with families regarding class and school events.
- Offer extracurricular activities after school during the school year.
- Respond promptly and professionally to communications from students, parents, community agencies, and colleagues.
- Attend and contribute to school-required functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in a private school setting.
- Demonstrated experience and training in counseling, particularly with children ages 5 to 14.
- International experience, either as a student or professional, is highly desirable.
- Montessori education certification is a plus.
- Commitment to maintaining a bias-free, inclusive educational environment.
