Organizational Summary

HASA is a well established, private, non-profit organization located in Baltimore, Maryland that offers a multitude of services to individuals of all ages with communication disorders and disabilities. Our mission is to help connect people to their worlds through our Language Access, Inclusion, Education, Hearing Health, and Speech-Language Pathology programming.

HASA is a leader in communication services in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. We offer a wide array of services for those with communication differences and/or disorders and operate a school for children with communication disorders. We are well recognized within the non-profit sector for our work in this community by the media, opinion leaders, and the general public, and we have established ourselves as one of the most prestigious resource centers in our field.

Position Summary

Provides programmatic counseling groups and individual counseling services for students at Gateway School. Plan and implement social groups and therapeutic groups targeting specific skills. Consult with special education teachers and other related service providers regarding mental health of students.

Responsibilities

● Endorses HASA’s mission and vision.

● Conducts individual and group counseling sessions.

● Instructs students on conflict resolution and self-esteem/positive thinking. ● Writes clinical notes regarding intervention goals, progress, and recommendations. Keeps suitable records of all services rendered.

● Consults with special education teachers regarding characteristics, needs, and recommendations and the impact on functional expectations.

● Participates in IEP meetings as needed if providing IEP direct related service. ● Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

● Masters Degree in an area related to mental health counseling.

● Maryland license as a professional counselor, guidance counselor, or school counselor. ● Strong leadership skills, organization, initiative and decision-making capabilities. ● Working knowledge of IEP development and implementation.

● Working knowledge and literature related to the field of Autism Spectrum Disorder. ● Knowledge and/or experience using therapeutic best practices for promoting social and emotional growth of students.

● 2+ years of working with students in special education; experience working with students with communication challenges or autism preferred.

● Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

● Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment.

● Exceptional written communication skills.

● Digital literacy and exceptional organizational skills.

● Competence with Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
