Job Summary

The Practice Management Specialist works closely with the Department Practice Director, Department Leadership, and Practice Group Leadership to provide administrative and operational support and to advance strategic initiatives and goals of the department, practice groups, and the firm. The Practice Management Specialist will play an active role in the day-to-day operations of the Regulatory Department specifically focused on financial performance; pricing and project management; growth; talent development; diversity, equity & inclusion; human resources; technology and innovation; and other strategic areas.

Job Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Department Practice Director, assists with the day-to-day operations of the department.
  • Partners with functional departments (Marketing/Business Development, Professional Development, Finance, Innovation) to support the business strategy as set out by the department and the practice groups.
  • Supports department and practice group meetings and retreats, including coordination with all appropriate administrative departments, communication, content development, and assistance with action items.
  • Collaborates with Department Practice Director, the Department Leadership and the Practice Group Leadership on attorney onboarding and integration initiatives.
  • Coordinates quarterly practice group leader discussions with the Department Chairs to discuss financial performance, among other topics.
  • Collaborates with the Department Practice Director and the Department’s Business Development Director on the development of agendas for department meetings, as well as to ensure that practice group meetings reflect Department goals and current initiatives;
  • Supports practice group(s), as needed, under the direction of the Department Practice Director and Practice Group Leadership, with day-to-day operations;
  • Supports the Department Practice Director on special projects as requested.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience and comfort with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A high degree of initiative and independent judgment with excellent troubleshooting and follow-through skills.
  • Superior organizational skills, extreme attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills, including strong grammar and proofreading/copyediting.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion as well as perform routine and non-routine tasks with care, attention to detail and efficiency.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines and managing workload.  
  • Ability to effectively tailor communications for different stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team and collaborate effectively across administrative departments and attorneys in all offices.

Education

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Experience

The position requires a minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible, directly related experience in a law firm or similar professional services environment during which the knowledge, skills and abilities applicable to this position were demonstrated.  Previous practice management experience a plus.
