Our IT Senior Systems Administrator position offers the opportunity to take on a leadership role within our IT department. You'll oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of our systems infrastructure, driving innovation and excellence every step of the way.Position Summary/General Description:

I.T. Senior Systems Administrator coordinates the Systems Administrators at each site to ensure that I.T. Systems are being properly managed, and directly performs any and all of the I.T. Systems Administrator duties at the corporate layer. Incumbent is responsible for maintaining optimal performance of mission critical systems and applications to assure continuity of service. Required to report, troubleshoot, and correct related system errors and problems. Identifies inadequacies and determines appropriate solutions to address them. Serves as third level of escalation for any issues I.T. Technicians cannot resolve without further education or training. Participates in the design of systems, oversees installation, and coordinates system upgrades, maintenance, and downtime to users. Maintains documentation of system configurations and processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and assist in the implementation of systems and processes to improve the effectiveness of technical services at all LDC locations.
  • Oversee the site-level System Administrators for all LDC sites.
  • Ensure that the following System Administrator functions are correctly performed at each site, and perform them for equipment within the scope of direct management by the corporate layer:
    • Monitor, upgrade, and manage VMware virtual server and desktop environments.
    • Monitor, upgrade, and manage multiple SAN systems.
    • Monitor, upgrade, and manage Microsoft Exchange environment.
    • Manage Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy for enterprise Windows Domain
    • Monitor, manage, apply patches, and update systems.
    • Manage multiple databases. Duties include installs, security access, querying, managing logs, backups, and restores.
    • Provide performance tuning and capacity planning functions for all software systems.
    • Manage all planned system upgrades and project-related installs.
    • Identify system inadequacies or deficiencies and submits recommendation for enhancement to I.T. Senior Systems Administrator
  • Problem Solving and Technical Skill Development
    • Responsible to resolve unfamiliar or unknown system problems using creative thinking and cooperative effort of the I.T. staff
    • Supervises efforts of System Administrators to resolve system-based problems or errors.
    • Cooperate and maintain communications with technical support companies
    • Research new technology to improve quality of systems and the I.T. staff
    • Continue with education and technical training to acquire certifications/degrees.
  • Documentation, Backups, and Disaster Recovery
    • Research areas of enhancement to increase system performance and stability
    • Responsible for documenting system configurations and update as needed
    • Responsible for managing and updating backups for all necessary systems
    • Required to test and document successful disaster recovery procedures
    • Oversees and coordinates efforts of staff in the event disaster recovery procedure(s) are initiated
  • Continuing Education
    • Keep up to date with relevant new technologies and I.T. industry practices
    • Research new Information Technology practices to improve technical operations
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Create detailed tickets pertaining to system problems or projects using ticket tracking system
    • Take on network related trouble tickets or escalated system problems
    • Provide departmental training and support of I.T. staff members as needed
  • Documentation and Quality Improvement
      • Review existing Knowledge Base documents and update as required
      • Create Knowledge Base documents for learned technical solutions
      • Create Knowledge Base documents for previously undocumented processes and procedures
      • Review current processes and communicate recommended changes to supervisor
    • At all times maintain a courteous, positive and professional working relationship with all LDC personnel and the general public (e.g., clients and vendors).
    • Work odd and unusual hours, including weekends and holidays.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
  • Five years’ experience in an enterprise I.T. environment
  • Three years’ experience in an I.T. systems-related position

Licensing & Certification Requirements:

  • At least one IT systems-related certification is preferred (e.g. MCP, MCSA, MCDBA, VCP, Server+)

Computer Equipment, Software, and Machinery Requirements:

  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft SQL is preferred.
  • Experience with VMware or other virtual environment is required.
  • Experience with SAN systems is preferred.
  • Experience with Linux OS is a plus.
  • Experience in point-of-sale systems is a plus.
  • Experience in accounting/HR software systems is a plus.
  • Experience in audio/video systems is a plus.
  • Experience in slot or other casino gaming systems is a plus.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • The job requires the ability to hear, sit, stand, talk, walk, see, and repetitively use hands 51-100% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to bend over, crouch/stoop, drive, kneel, reach overheard and turn/twist 25-50% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to push/pull, carry, lift, slide and transfer 1-50+lbs. 25-50% of the time.

Essential Mental Demands:

  • The position requires problem solving, organizing, planning, decision making, interpreting data, math skills, reading and writing 51-100% of the time.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Training, directing, appraising productivity, and measuring performance.

Work Environment (inside/outside):

  • The duties are performed primarily indoor with occasional exposure to hot and cold temperatures, loud noises and confined spaces.

Other Requirements:

  • Obtain and maintain a gaming license through the Pueblo of Laguna’s Gaming Control Board and must provide/maintain a valid New Mexico drivers’ license.
