Report to: Director of DC Operations



Position Summary

The Distribution Center Associate Manager is responsible for managing distribution functions and all operations of the DC North and DC South with the direction of the Director of DC Operations. The Distribution Center Associate Manager will ensure that every step of the process is functioning effectively to avoid delays and lost sales opportunities. The Distribution Center Associate Manager is also responsible for leading the Distribution Center team of associates, including but not limited to, all areas of daily duties, recognition, rewards and performance management. The Distribution Center Associate Manager, in conjunction with the Director of DC Operations is responsible for screening and hiring of staff and maintaining positive morale within the unit. Additional responsibilities also include ensuring personnel safety via coaching as well as training in compliance with agencies such as OSHA. The Distribution Center Associate Manager must be creative and enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment that is mission and results-driven.


General Purpose

Manage the ongoing daily operations of the Distribution Center, alongside the Director of DC Operations, while preserving, promoting and protecting the Family Express brand image.


Role Qualifications

  • Must pass all competency tests
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Prior logistics experience is preferable
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Good to excellent computer skills
  • Make fast and decisive decisions
  • Ability to read and comprehend various reports including sales, supply, inventory, and contract volumes
  • Professionally interact with all customers, vendors, and Family Express Corporation personnel
  • Ability to work in fast paced, organized, positive environment


Position Responsibilities

  • Establish in conjunction with 3PL Provider all delivery routes
  • Supervise and oversee all operations of the DC North and DC South including safety issues, cleanliness, make sure all OSHA and other regulatory guidelines and adhered too, and oversee the maintenance of the buildings and grounds
  • Make sure the daily pick list are generated and associates have a clear understanding of daily responsibilities
  • Supervise the Team Leads and DC Associates including scheduling, performance interventions, hiring, training, and safety issues
  • Oversee the daily picking and loading of product
  • Communicate all directives and matters of importance to the DC Team Leads and Associates and communicate all driver matters to the appropriate individuals
Requirements:

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Have a working knowledge of all DOT and OSHA regulations
  • Know all local laws governing the type of gasoline required
  • Requires flexibility, dependability, organizational skills, a good work ethic and ability to work well with others as a team member
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals

Physical demands and work environment

  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for prolonged periods; work longer than eight (8) hours shifts, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; talk and hear; taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Work Environment: Must have flexibility to work all shifts, all days of the week, when necessary. Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures. Exposure to cleaning solvents.
