Your responsibilities would include working with data and ad hoc pricing models, making billing calculations, generating invoices, proofing, editing, and compiling the backup documents and reports required by our contracts. This is an exciting new role within CET that will provide opportunity for career growth. If you are a detail-oriented person who has a talent for analysis and corrective processes, and if you have a financial or accounting background and experience billing to contracts, please apply

For nearly 50 years, CET has helped people and businesses save energy and reduce waste. As a mission-driven non-profit, we partner with city and state agencies, utilities, homeowners, and business owners across the U.S. to build a just and equitable transition to the low-carbon economy.

CET has a diverse set of revenue streams from several dozen clients and funding partners and we continuously bid on new work to expand our programs and services. Our diverse portfolio and active business development helps mitigate against ebbs and flows in our workforce needs.

Benefits

CET provides you with excellent benefits including vacation, holiday, and personal/sick time; medical, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; and a retirement plan with a company match. CET provides a monthly $85 stipend for your home internet and/or phone expenses. We cultivate a friendly and supportive environment to help us achieve our mission impact goals.

This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position. You may work remotely or may work out of our office in Northampton, Massachusetts. CET will provide you with a laptop and other office technology.

For this exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference in the realm of decarbonization, you’re a great fit for the Invoicing and Billing Specialist role if you can:

  • Initiate the approval process, monitor the status of invoices in the approval chain, and ensure timely monthly financial closings.
  • Determine invoice report requirements and work with appropriate contacts within the organization for timely and accurate preparation.
  • Monitor aging receivables and follow up with clients and the appropriate parties within CET when you need to escalate.
  • Take ownership of billing for contracts by analyzing invoicing processes and results and recommending and implementing continuous improvement measures.
  • Resolve errors and work to correct them.
  • Support the development of project or program-specific invoicing procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.

This crucial role makes a difference in people's lives and helps the environment. You will bring to this position:

  • A passion for the non-profit, environmental mission of CET.
  • Associates degree or higher with a minimum of 4 year of invoicing, billing, or accounts receivable.
  • CET uses NetSuite, Salesforce, SharePoint, Excel, Teams, and other invoicing software. Experience in these environments strongly preferred.
  • High speed internet access and a working location free from distractions and interference during 8:30 am - 5:00 pm EST business hours.
  • Excellent communication skills needed with ability to work with stakeholders in the invoicing process across the organization.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Work style should be flexible, self-directed, professional, hard-working, patient, and problem-solving.
  • Excellent organizational, accuracy, and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail oriented with ability to follow and improve upon stepwise processes.

About Us

For all of our work, we bring together a diverse team of environmental consultants, building scientists, engineers, sales, operations, and communications specialists to implement cost-effective and lasting solutions. We’re a hands-on, action-oriented organization—everyday someone on our team is:

  • Conducting residential and commercial energy audits and advising building owners on efficiency and electrification opportunities;
  • Helping businesses reduce waste, including improving recycling or implementing wasted food diversion programs;
  • Working with a municipal electric utility to build innovative financing and incentive programs to accelerate electrification;
