PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Financial Counselor plays a crucial role in assisting uninsured and underinsured patients, guiding them through the process of accessing healthcare programs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting eligibility assessments and assisting clients in completing applications for available healthcare programs.
  • Providing advocacy and education to ensure clients understand their options for accessing necessary services.
  • Linking eligible clients with affordable primary and specialty care services.
  • Engaging in outreach efforts to promote awareness of available healthcare resources within the community.
  • Managing financial assistance inquiries and facilitating payment arrangements for hospital bills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Financial Counselor will:

  • Screen patients for eligibility in governmental and community health programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of documentation requirements for various assistance programs.
  • Follow up with clients to ensure application completion and continued access to services.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients with relevant agencies to secure necessary support.
  • Document all patient interactions and maintain accurate records in compliance with regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants should possess:

  • A high school diploma; a Bachelor's degree or relevant experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
