The Tribal Programs Manager is primarily responsible for implementing succession planning and leadership development programs for LDC employees with an emphasis on developing Laguna Tribal Members into leadership roles within the organization. The incumbent will work closely with the Corporate Leadership to curate effective development programs and will be responsible for the day to day implementation of these programs and individual development plans. We are looking for a candidate who possesses a demonstrated ability to coach and mentor and has experience working in a tribal organization. Preference will be given to Pueblo of Laguna Tribal members and members of any Federally Recognized, Tribe, Pueblo or Nation.
Position Summary/General Description:
The Tribal Programs Manager oversees the fulfillment of leadership development programs and initiatives serving the needs of Laguna Tribal members and other team members employed at LDC. They are responsible for implementing and evaluating career development programs, promoting well-being and self-sufficiency, and collaborating with Pueblo of Laguna entities to foster the development of Tribal members employed at LDC. Incumbent will ensure that assigned project-based programs adhere to established schedules, specifications, and budgets.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Recommend, develop, and manage, Tribal Member leadership development programs as directed.
• Manage Tuition Reimbursement Program.
• Manage LDC’s Management Capacity Program for LDC team members.
• Collaborate with, and serve as a liaison with Pueblo of Laguna entities to develop and foster programs to develop Laguna Tribal members.
• Regularly communicates with program participants, operators and HR management team to arrange meetings, confirm program schedules, and discuss any program problems or delays.
• Conduct needs analysis of LDC’s Pueblo of Laguna Tribal member population.
• Ensures all parties are regularly informed of the status of programs; while ensuring management is advised of any problems or potential problems.
• Collaborate and guide Operational Managers, as directed, on the integration and implementation of Tribal Member leadership development programs.
• Takes proactive steps to minimize delays in delivery by forecasting potential schedule delays and developing alternate plans.
• Conduct performance reporting – analyze and provide feedback regarding programs.
• Manage and coordinate the Partners for Success Summer work program.
• Create and develop new tribal succession planning programs.
• Assist with annual budget planning process and manage program allocations.
• Foster strong relationships with Tribal members and leaders.
• Collaborate, participate and assist HR with departmental goals, objectives and initiatives, as directed.
• Build relationships and loyalty with guests through sincere and meaningful interactions (e.g., learn guests’ names and preferences; connect with them individually and professionally; smile; make eye contact and verbally greet guests from arrival to the property through departure; and provide fast and friendly service to guests).
• At all times maintain a courteous, positive and professional working relationship with all LDC personnel and the general public (e.g., coworkers, clients and vendors).
• Be a team player (e.g., work toward team goals and foster a collaborative and positive work environment; put the team first; assist coworkers; treat all coworkers with kindness, courtesy and respect; never engage in negativity; maintain openness to coaching, learning and improving; receptive to change and willingness to embrace challenges with team-spirit).
• Develop a thorough knowledge of services, room locations, amenities, surroundings (e.g., gift shop, restaurants, theater, etc.), providing accurate directions, and information for guest inquiries about promotions and special events.
• Work under pressure; maintain regular and punctual attendance including working odd and unusual hours, weekends and holidays.
• Actively participate in Management Development Leadership Series (MDLS) yearly.
• Motivate others and maintain conflict resolution skills.
• Maintain clear and concise communication skills with all members of the community, both orally and in writing.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage multiple work activities simultaneously while under pressure, set priorities on work assignments, and maintain flexibility.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, Sociology, or related field required and professional designation required. Any combination of education, professional certification or previous work experience of not less than eight years that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties of the position will be considered.
• Five years of relevant work experience required.
• Must have a strong sense of the relationship between LDC and Pueblo of Laguna, history and politics.

• Proficient in basic computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Essential Physical Requirements:
• The job requires driving, hearing, sitting, and standing, talking, and walking 51-100% of the time.
Essential Mental Demands:
• Problem solving, organizing, planning, making decisions, interpreting data, reading and writing 51-100% of the time.

Work Environment (inside/outside):
• The job is performed indoors and outdoors 51-100% of the time with some exposure to high/cold temperatures.
Other Requirements:
• Must maintain a gaming license through the Pueblo of Laguna’s Gaming Control Board and must provide/maintain a valid New Mexico drivers’ license.
• Applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
