Job Summary

We are seeking a Paralegal to support our Equal Justice Isleta Program in Santa Ana, New Mexico. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to our attorneys, manage case files, and engage in outreach activities to serve low-income Native American communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support attorneys with case management and research
  • Manage case files and calendars
  • Engage in outreach activities, including occasional travel
  • Draft pleadings, letters, and outreach materials
  • Complete intakes for Equal Justice Isleta applicants
  • Collaborate with NAP staff to resource or serve applicants not eligible under the Project
Requirements
  • Understanding of tribal law and federal and state Indian law, particularly in areas handled by NAP case workers
  • Experience working in low-income Native communities, preferably Pueblo communities
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team and communicate successfully with clients
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and build collaborative relationships across different NMLA offices and Pueblo of Isleta agencies
