Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe position is a two-year grant-funded position that reports to the Associate Dean of Interprofessional Education and Community Engagement in the Community Care Clinic and the PI of the grant. The Peer Recovery and Support Specialist role is designed for a compassionate and dedicated individual who has lived experience with substance use and is in stable recovery. The person in this role will provide non-clinical support and advocacy to individuals seeking recovery, helping them navigate resources and build a sustainable path to wellness. The Peer Recovery and Support Specialists will work with students, community members, treatment centers, and shelters.Job Duties and Responsibilities1. Peer Support:
-Offer one-on-one support to individuals in recovery, sharing personal experiences to
foster trust and motivation.
-Facilitate SMART Recovery meetings and peer-led support groups.
-Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
-Provide peer support for students from UCA and Hendrix
-Work with Conway PD Crisis Response Unit, Conway Regional Detox, and area
shelters to provide peer support and case-management services.

2. Resource Navigation:
-Assist clients in accessing community resources such as housing, employment,
healthcare, and social services.
-Guide clients through the process of enrolling in treatment programs and accessing
mental physical health services.

3. Advocacy:
-Advocate for the needs and rights of individuals in recovery within the clinic and the
broader community.
-Support clients in developing self-advocacy skills.

4. Education and Outreach:
-Conduct outreach to raise awareness about recovery resources and the services
provided by the Community Care Clinic at UCA.
-Participate in community events and workshops to promote prevention, recovery, and
reduce stigma.
-Conduct Narcan training on campus and in the community.

5. Collaboration:
-Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including mental health professionals,
social workers, and healthcare providers, to coordinate comprehensive care for
clients.
-Participate in team meetings and contribute to case discussions and treatment
planning.
-Build coalitions with community partners to facilitate preventions and treatment
efforts while providing experiential learning opportunities for UCA students.

6. Documentation and Reporting:
-Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and progress.
-Prepare reports and documentation as required by the clinic.

4. Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.

6. Empathy and understanding towards individuals facing substance use and mental health
challenges.
7. Commitment to maintaining personal recovery and modeling recovery-oriented
behaviors.
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
9. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.Skills Considered Essential for Success-Knowledge of the organization and administration of higher education.
-Knowledge of state, federal, and university rules, regulations and procedures.
-Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
-Ability to work collaboratively and independently with common goals as a part of a team.

-Effective interpersonal communication, writing, and organizational abilities.
-Civility in all interactions.
-Demonstrate effective follow-up.Required Education and/or Experience1. Bachelor’s Degree in addiction treatment/prevention or related field preferred, OR
2. certification as a peer-support specialist and other experiences will be considered
(training will be provided), AND
3. Lived experience with substance use with a minimum of two years of sustained recovery.
