POSITION SUMMARY:

HIAS seeks a Team Supervisor, Housing Assistance to support a team of Housing Coordinators delivering housing assistance to asylum-seeker families through the Ms. L Settlement Housing Assistance Program, funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement. The Team Supervisor, Housing Assistance will be supported by the Housing Strategy Specialist and the Social Services team. The Team Supervisor, Housing Assistance will assist Housing Coordinators with providing services and troubleshooting challenges for a caseload of asylum-seeker families, conducting quality assurance checks, assisting with grant reporting, training new staff, and researching resources to support asylum-seeker families.

Note, the salary for this position is $70,000.00, and this is a full-time, temporary position that starts ASAP and ends September 30, 2024, with possible extension.

This position can be based at our headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, our office in New York, New York, or Austin, Texas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conducts weekly check-ins to support direct service staff.
  • Provides guidance to Housing Coordinators on mitigating housing challenges faced by asylum-seeker families enrolled in the Ms. L Settlement Housing Assistance Program.
  • Conducts weekly quality assurance checks on all case files.
  • Leads monthly peer review of case files.
  • Manages allocation of new cases, in consultation with the Intake Coordinator.
  • Assists with preparation of quarterly reports for funders.
  • Researches resources to support asylum-seeker families’ needs.
  • Provides training to new staff and provides ongoing training to Housing Coordinators to further knowledge of housing resources and best practices for service provision to asylum-seekers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree a plus.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience working in affordable housing, homeless services, and/or refugee resettlement.
  • Experience in team leadership.
  • Experience in grant management, quality assurance, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 platform, including SharePoint and MS Teams, preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfort with public speaking preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and mediation skills; ability to adapt and maintain composure in challenging situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with other team members, coordination with volunteers, and management of key relationships with landlords and community partners.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter able to manage, coordinate, and carry out varied functions of multi-faceted program.
  • Travel, to include travel to insecure operating environments, may be required.
