Job Description

The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of ITW Global Tire Repair's strategic sourcing strategy. This role will contribute to the creation of category strategies, focusing on driving cost reduction initiatives while optimizing sourcing processes. As a subject matter expert, the Strategic Sourcing Manager will provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with overall business goals. This role will also lead supplier negotiations, finalize strategic agreements to secure favorable terms. Additionally, the Strategic Sourcing Manager will ensure that all sourcing activities prioritize the procurement of high-quality products, working closely with suppliers to maintain and exceed our company quality standards. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, coordinates and conducts negotiations with suppliers. Negotiates agreements to achieve results that support sourcing strategies and ITW Global Tire Repair business objectives.
  • Develops category specific sourcing strategies, understands relevant internal and external data and creates product/supply risk assessments.
  • Applies 80/20 in prioritizing and where to lay the focus on spend management.
  • Summarizes data analysis and purchasing expertise to develop strategic sourcing strategies. Key elements of this include effective strategy execution, monitoring results and renewing the strategy as market conditions evolve.
  • Manages supplier relationships by developing supplier programs and identifying continuous improvement initiatives.  Tracks supplier performance and provides feedback.  Looks for opportunities to build business relationships by matching supplier capabilities with ITW Global Tire Repair business objectives.
  • Analyzes supplier financial position to assess viability as an ITW Global Tire Repair supplier. Understands strengths and weaknesses of supplier and tracks KPIs and financial development of supplier.
  • Gathers and utilizes the appropriate information to develop contracts geared to lower total cost and improve supplier relationships.  Manages contracts by monitoring contract compliance and updating contracts based on re-negotiation processes.
  • Manage supply risk analysis for multiple locations working with internal/external teams to validate raw material alternatives to maintain continuity of supply and offset price increases.
  • Regularly provide key materials trends, issues and inflation & deflation forecast to the Division to manage monthly, quarterly, and annual outlook.
  • Drives VA/VE initiatives and engages on VA/VE at a broader level.
  • Develops and implements a long-term plan and annual operating plan for the categories, utilizing the ITW sourcing toolbox.
  • Identifies strategic partners and delivers improved products and lower costs to the organization through supplier management, carrying out the strategic sourcing process (including potential RFQ’s, RFI’s, contracts), category management, make or buy analysis, identifying synergies, and total cost principles.
  • Collaborate with Product Development team in support of new product launch initiatives to develop and implement cost reduction and sourcing strategies for service parts to meet program timing, cost, quality, delivery, and strategic objectives.
  • Manage Engineering Change Request (ECR) process with existing suppliers in conjunction with New Product Development team.
  • Incorporates a Quality mindset and assesses supplier ability to support our QMS in conjunction with our quality department and leadership team. Regards quality as one of the primary criteria when considering a new supplier or renewing agreements with current suppliers and establishing KPIs to measure.
Qualifications

  • BS degree in Ops Management, Supply Chain Management, or Business or equivalent, plus 7 years experience in professional sourcing in an international industrial business.
  • Previous category management/strategic sourcing experience with knowledge of business improvement techniques and their practical application.
  • Previous people management with experience leading global teams.
  • Ability to understand chemistry category specific business, technology and government trends. Ability to understand supply market and alternative/competition products within the industry. Applies this information to increase ITW Global Tire Repair competitive advantage.
  • Ability to identify, assess and execute savings initiatives beyond the traditional Raw Material price negotiations (e.g., formulation optimization, Value Analysis/Value Engineering) and to successfully work cross-functionally (primarily R&D) to get these non-traditional projects completed.
  • Aligns business objectives and develops sources of supply based on ITW Global Tire Repair’s strategic direction.
  • Ability to understand financial concepts, invoicing, accounts payable and other financial business processes. Interprets financial data, analyzes cost structures and determines financial impacts of decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills both business and technical nature with strong presentation skills.
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently under tight timescales.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and ERP-system skills required.
  • 25 -30% travel


Additional Information

The salary range for this role is $105,000 to $125,000. Bonus based on individual and business performance with a target bonus range of 8% annually.
