OPERATIONS MANAGER - WEST COAST OFFICE

REPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGER - WEST COAST

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide direction for the day-to-day operations of the West Coast Office, implementing plans and policies to achieve overall corporate objectives, ensuring profitability, and maximizing operating results. Will ensure that all projects meet the company's safety and quality standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Incorporate safety and environmental responsibility into daily action.
  2. Utilize and improve the Nooter Management System (NMS) to effectively and efficiently fulfill requirements from customers, regulators, and NCC values, policies, objectives, and targets.
  3. Incorporate positive interpersonal skills when communicating or interacting with customers, subcontractors, vendors, craft, and NCC personnel.
  4. Employ organizational skills that effectively minimize obstacles that negatively impact the project. Employ sound decision-making/problem-solving skills to resolve the issue when obstacles arise.
  5. Develop, direct, and monitor strategic plans consistent with the West Coast Office's profit and growth objectives.
  6. Plan, staff, and supervise all West Coast Office activities, including personnel administration, performance reviews, training, defining functions, responsibilities, power-to-act, etc.
  7. Confer with professional staff to resolve operating problems, authorize West Coast Office operational procedures, and approve all major estimates.
  8. Initiate and maintain liaison with prime clients to facilitate positive relationships and communication.
  9. Maintain a positive financial posture for West Coast Office work segments and monitor cost analysis activities routinely. Manage financial aspects of West Coast Office work activities.
  10. Establish overall West Coast Office policy and direction within overall corporate objectives as General Manager dictates.
  11. Participate in "lessons learned" meetings upon completion of a project.
  12. Travel outside the local area, by air and car, when required to maintain the position's essential functions.
  13. Work with A/R to ensure the timely processing of customer invoices and collections.
  14. Work with Purchasing Group to ensure the best possible support of the projects and to negotiate Nooter's Preferred Vendor Program.
  15. Work with Business Development/Marketing to ensure that the West Coast Office has a first-class account management plan to facilitate the growth and profitability of the company.
  16. Ensure that the West Coast Office utilizes the latest applicable and cost-effective technologies.
Marginal Functions:
  1. Conduct regular walk-downs and inspections of construction projects, including safety audits.
  2. Perform additional assignments per the direction of the General Manager.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience required.


Experience:

Extensive (fifteen or more years) experience in all areas of management of construction segments yielding advanced knowledge of the construction industry, company operations, accounting principles, construction technology, and trends. Previous management experience should also thoroughly explain how corporate objectives impact actual construction, strategies and techniques, and construction contracts.


Required skills and abilities:

Computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint); internet use and innovation. Ability to learn other software, if required, with company-provided training.


Travel:

Extended travel up to 10% of the time.
