An international financial institution seeks a Financial Specialist to join its headquarters-based Library Team. The successful candidate will provide research and reference services to the staff, using his/her knowledge of economic and financial data, news, and bibliographic resources. In keeping with the Library’s strategic planning initiatives, the Financial Specialist will become a partner with specific client groups, carrying out in-depth information services. The position is part of the organization's library's Research and Data Services team. The team is responsible for client interactions, including answering research and reference questions, delivering training, document delivery, interlibrary loan, and managing the physical space.

Schedule: Normal Business Hours

Location: Near Farragut North/West Metro Stop

Hybrid: Expected to have three days onsite/two days remote

Duties and Responsibilities

- Provide state-of-the-art library research services to staff by using a variety of print, electronic, and data resources, including economic and financial databases such as Moody’s, S&P Capital IQ, Fitch, Bloomberg, Datastream, and Haver Analytics. Proactively work with client groups to evaluate, develop, and implement research.

- Support users with data access, retrieval, integrity and quality control, modeling, analysis, and visualization using advanced data analytics and management tools.

- Create information products to meet immediate and ongoing information needs of the staff. Examples are research guides, customized information packages, and quick reference tools.

- Work in Data Zone and engage with users about economic and financial data within the organization.

- Raise awareness of data users through newsletters or other alerting services highlighting contents, availability, or specifications of licensed commercial databases.

- Increase the effectiveness of library services by training end users on databases and other information products.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in library science or other relevant graduate degree, especially in economics or related areas.
  • Good understanding of and engagement with a range of library operations, trends, and practices.
  • Proven ability to query and manipulate large sets of data using programing tools like R, Python, Stata, and SQL.
  • Proficiency in searching a wide range of news, bibliographic, and statistical databases. Subject knowledge of economics and finance preferred.
  • Good knowledge of Big Data technologies and how they are being used to support a variety of government and corporate policies.
  • Excellent project management skills with exposure to data-related projects and timelines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a diverse environment, and to build effective working relationships with client groups.
  • Good written and communication skills.
  • Experience with delivering training.
  • Good knowledge of copyright compliance in a library setting would be an asset.
