GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The Activities Coordinator assists in the coordination of all aspects of Summer Camp development and summer activity services for children and families at Generations. This position also provides resource management, clerical assistance, planning, facilitation, and supervision of program activities. This position reports to the Program Manager of Generations.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develop and implement morning plan and coordinate activities calendar.
  • Facilitate and create lesson plans for daily activities.
  • Organize and lead various small and large group activities.
  • Supervise campers and ensure their safety, development, growth, skill achievement and general well-being.
  • Maintain a schedule for camp participants.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the site.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
  • Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the program site.
  • Record and track campers’ dietary restrictions/allergies and ensure that the meals/snacks are distributed to the campers.
  • Redirect behavioral issues and mediate any disputes.
  • Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with program.
  • Maintain constant surveillance of campers and recreation areas as camper’s whereabouts must always be known.
  • Observe participants at events and gauge their enjoyment and obtain their feedback to improve events.
  • Keep record of event planning resources and other notable information.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Attend and complete all mandatory trainings

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide effective customer services including but not limited to greeting, receiving, and always addressing clients with respect and dignity.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Education: HS diploma required, pursuing degree in Social Service or related field preferred.

Minimum Years of Experience: A minimum of one year experience in youth programs, recreation, event planning, working with children, or in related field.

Demonstrate skills in:, Strong communication, organization, mediation, and leadership skills. Resource management skills, with an ability to manage diverse operations, effectively multi-task and a style that encourages creativity, growth, collaboration, problem solving, open communication and accountability. Proficient in using technology for data collection and as a management reporting tool. Ability to work with diverse, multicultural population. Strong ability to communicate in written and oral form. Flexibility to work some evenings to accommodate late field trips/activities. Willingness to adhere to and enforce all safety policies and procedures.

Ability to interact with a diverse population. Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health issues. Excellent communication skills, written and oral, are required. Ability to compile written reports and maintain case notes. Experience in facilitating groups preferred. Demonstrated ability to utilize computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Project a professional demeanor and interpersonal skills. Able to work independently and as part the team and exercises mature judgment. Proficient knowledge in processing confidential information. Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Knowledge of: homeless services and local community resources.

Bilingual: Spanish – preferred, not required.

Driving Required: NO

Active Driver License in good standing required upon hire and throughout employment.

Physical and TB Required: NO

ADA COMPLIANCE

Physical Ability: Tasks involve light work, involving some reaching, handling, fingering and/or feeling of objects and materials. Must be able to carry heavy equipment at times.

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.

Environmental Factors:

Ability to perform a variety of tasks outside in various climates. Tasks are regularly performed with occasional to moderate exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances
