OFFICE: Mainly remote; Occasional on-site required to Richmond, VA

CORE BUSINESS HOURS: 10:00am EST – 4:00pm EST. Additional hours are flexible and may be necessary to fulfill business and program objectives.

EMPLOYMENT: Full time 40/hr. per week

WHO ARE WE SEARCHING FOR? 

The Canton Group is looking to hire a full-time professional Jr. Project Manager to work closely with Project/Program Manager(s) to provide extensive administrative and coordinating duties such as scheduling and risk management. Someone who is eager to learn  There's a ton to learn on a large-scale implementation such as the one this project coordinator will be aligned to; such as test planning, reporting, compliance, requirements management.

The following are additional duties and responsibilities that a Jr. Project Manager should be able to do:


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Program Manager to ensure all aspects of key projects remain in-scope, on-time and in-budget
  • Hosts weekly onsite status meetings, participates in monthly executive status meetings, and hosts or participates in (as needed) ad-hoc meetings 
  • Direct project correspondences by preparing and reviewing project proposals, memos, meeting minutes and emails
  • Communicate with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope and objectives
  • Participate in project design meetings and propose improvements if necessary
  • Evaluate potential problems and technical hitches and develop solutions
  • Plan and manage team goals, project schedules and new information
  • Supervise current projects and coordinate all team members to keep workflow on track
  • Manage project-related paperwork by ensuring all necessary materials are current, properly filed and stored
  • Adhere to budget by monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving measures
  • Identify Project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies
  • Assist Workstream leads to log and maintain project risks and coordinate regular reviews of the RAID log with key stakeholders
  • Manage and track all project reporting requirements pertaining to the contract and project deliverables
  • Manage and maintain quality and organization of Project Information Libraries (Via SharePoint and Teams)

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-4 years of project management support experience related to software development projects
  • Familiarity with Agile development process
  • Experience with monitoring or managing scope, schedule, and budget responsibilities
  • Ability to support multiple projects on an ongoing basis
  • Experience in developing and managing integrated master schedule in Microsoft Project or Project Online
  • Excellent technical writing skills with willingness to document processes
  • Proficiency using online technology to schedule meetings, capture minutes and assign tasks
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills capable of maintaining strong relationships
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Team-management and leadership skills
  • Documentation management and ability to use project management tools
  • Attention to details even under pressure
  • Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines 


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Experience working on projects involving large-scale implementation of software applications and hardware solutions
  • Experience in managing State IT projects


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time
  • May be required to work on-call or long hours if necessary, in case of serious network malfunction.
