Position Overview:
  • The Lead Capital Projects Manager is tasked with overseeing the construction of expansions, modifications, and renovations, as well as assisting with select new construction initiatives within the healthcare sector.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in managing all phases of construction projects, including project inception, design, budgeting, safety compliance, and project closure.
  • This role may involve collaboration on larger projects or departmental initiatives as directed by senior leadership. In addition to technical skills, the Lead Capital Projects Manager must exhibit strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities to foster positive relationships with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees renovation, tenant improvement, and capital renewal projects with budgets that may reach or exceed $20 million, often under tight deadlines and complex logistical challenges.
  • Collaborates effectively with various departments such as architecture, finance, engineering, and clinical operations.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service by providing timely updates to team members and stakeholders regarding project progress, financials, and timelines.
Leadership and Mentorship:
  • Mentors and trains project management staff on assigned projects and contributes to broader departmental initiatives.
  • Assists in the evaluation and implementation of innovative project delivery methods.
  • Guides interns and junior staff as part of leadership development efforts.
Project Management:
  • Reviews project requirements and scope with stakeholders.
  • Incorporates economic inclusion objectives into project planning.
  • Develops and manages project schedules and documentation.
  • Identifies and proposes project adjustments based on facility assessments.
Design Oversight:
  • Coordinates project reviews and ensures compliance with internal standards.
  • Promotes sustainable practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitors design progress to adhere to budget and schedule.
Financial Management:
  • Establishes and maintains project budgets, providing cash flow forecasts as necessary.
  • Reviews and approves project invoices and change orders.
Construction Supervision:
  • Manages project logistics and ensures compliance with established policies.
  • Monitors construction activities to meet project milestones and requirements.
Core Competencies:

Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • At least 8 years of project management experience in a similar role is required, with a minimum of 10 years for candidates without a degree.
