The Daughters of the American Revolution, a non-profit membership organization, has a full-time opportunity in our Development Office for a Senior Development Associate. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to utilize their experience and strong management skills in an established non-profit organization.
The individual in this role will contribute to the development and implementation of business processes and services while focusing on supporting the fundraising and stewardship efforts of the team.
As a member of the Development department management team the Senior Development Associate will serve as a liaison between the operations team and other staff in the department as well as throughout the organization. This position will create and manage a successful lead generating resource and donor cultivation team through excellent customer service.
The Senior Development Associate will identify the needs and priorities of the office to ensure that standards are aligned with the strategic plan, ensuring effective operation of the development database; campaign reporting and data quality; directing the administrative team's daily work activities, as well as ensuring that all services and operations are delivered in a customer friendly, timely, and cost-effective manner.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Trains, coaches, and manages members of the operations team and member volunteers to ensure effective operations of the department.
- Identifies the needs and priorities of the Development office to ensure that standards and protocols are aligned with the strategic plan.
- Manages frontline fundraising professionals by handling schedules and work assignments and monitoring progress. Will work with staff to ensure all needs are met to ensure an engaged workforce.
- Coordinates internal and external meetings and the department's participation at state conferences, events, and workshops.
- Ensures an effective operation of the development database, which captures biographical and gift records.
- Oversees the coordination of the matching gift program.
- Coordinates office operations and procedures to include preparing bi-weekly timesheets, designing filing systems, reviewing and approving supply requisitions.
- Develops procedures for retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records consistent with PCI compliant practices.
- Works with vendors to create an efficient donor acknowledgement process.
- Coordinates and completes donor research on a yearly basis to identify possible prospects for consideration.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, non-profit management, communications, public relations, or related field of study, required.
- Five years of development/fundraising experience.
- 3-5 years in a supervisory or managerial role is required.
- Experience working with clients/member services or providing a high-level of customer service is required.
- Must be able to demonstrate a strong ability to effectively lead, supervise and coach staff with different skills sets and abilities.
- Knowledge of PCI compliant procedures and the ability to implement them.
- Demonstrate strong problem solving strategies.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential; ability to draft grammatically correct correspondence.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, and various fundraising software systems.
All members of this office are expected to work the month of June in preparation for the Society's annual convention, Continental Congress.
Benefits:
- Hiring annual salary range in the low $50,000's to mid $60,000's, with the final determination based upon the candidate's overall experience.
