JOB TITLE: Group Sales Manager 

REPORTS TO: Regional Director of Sales 

BASIC PURPOSE

Ocean Properties Hotels, Resorts, & Affiliates has an immediate opening for a highly-motivated, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented individual at the Treasure Coast Sales Office within the company portfolio. Focus is primarily contracting groups in segments including Social and wedding rooms, corporate, government.  This unique individual must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, be aggressive in targeting new business, exceed established goals for their market segment, and detail catering events.

Eligible for sales commission plan in addition to salary.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Responsible for selling within the given market segment.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings via outside calls, solicitations, cold calls, appointments, and site visits.
  • Responds in a timely manner to incoming group opportunities for business via phone and Internet
  • Ensures business booked is within hotel parameters
  • Processes all business correspondence within acceptable time limits. Creates proposals, contracts and other related booking documentation as required. Manages and maintains account files.
  • Understand the overall market for each hotel, competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, etc. and know how to sell against your competition.
  • Closes the best opportunities based on market conditions and individual property needs.
  • Uses negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with officials and representatives of local community groups such as the CVB and Chamber of Commerce
  • Represent the company at out-of-town conventions and trade shows to promote new business, increase sales, and build awareness of the portfolio.
  • Sell, detail and oversee small catering groups and local events while upselling menus and room rental.
  • Provides best in class response to customer inquiries – electronic (CVENT, website, etc.) as well as phone inquiries, both reactive and proactive initiatives to drive group room sales and catering/events. 
  • Expert in all elements of Ocean Properties sales process, from initial inquiry through closure and turnover. 
  • Qualifies each business opportunity and suggests brands and products which are in line both with customer needs as well as property business needs. 
  • Establish and maintain complete and up-to-date lead information on each account in applicable systems. 
  • Builds and maintains rapport with clients throughout the buying process. 
  • Focuses on ways to improve overall buying processes with emphasis on "ease of doing business". 
  • Processes all leads in a timely manner. Monitors, updates and communicates the lead status to properties, team members and markets 
  • Provides effective follow-up , develops proposals, negotiates contracts. 
  • Verifies that the business is turned over properly to property events and in a timely fashion for quality service delivery. 
  • Performs consistently in the area of sales, meeting production goals each period/quarter/annually. 
  • On occasion and with Regional Director approval, can attend select customer site inspections, trade shows, and solicit past customers as well as new business.  
  • Keeps Leadership informed of trends, opportunities, and market changes as needed.

  • Third Party RFP sources include Cvent.com,  
  • Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) 
  • Sertifi 

REQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

  • College degree in Management, Marketing, or Hospitality preferred. (2year or 4year degree) 
  • Minimum 1 year of experience selling and contracting group business in hospitality 
  • Must have computer and Sales and Catering system knowledge and experience. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Team based selling experience. 
  • Must have leadership qualities, be dynamic and energetic.
