Senior Accountant


Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and executing cost accounting activities, ensuring accurate cost allocation, and providing insightful financial analysis to support business decisions. This role demands a deep understanding of cost accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:

  • Cost Accounting:
  • Oversee and manage all cost accounting functions, including cost allocation, product costing, variance analysis, and cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations.
  • Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and processes, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Financial Analysis:
  • Prepare detailed cost analysis reports and provide insights into cost drivers and profitability.
  • Monitor and report on key cost metrics, including labor, materials, and overhead costs.
  • Conduct variance analysis to compare actual costs to budgeted/standard costs, identifying and explaining any significant deviations.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Collaborate with the finance team to develop and maintain the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Provide input on cost assumptions and ensure alignment with overall financial goals.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Oversee the accuracy of inventory valuations, including periodic physical inventory counts and reconciliations.
  • Ensure proper cost capitalization of inventory and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of cost accounting practices.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in cost accounting and financial analysis.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.


Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on cost accounting in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
