Overview
Under the supervision of a designated manager, execute intricate technical accounting tasks related to the preparation, processing, and upkeep of College and District financial records. The Accounting Technician II is distinguished from the Accounting Technician I by handling more advanced accounting responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain various financial ledgers, registers, and journals; ensure accurate posting, verification, and balancing of accounts.
2. Prepare daily financial journals from sales receipts; manage credit card invoice processing through accounts receivable.
3. Validate account codes for payable invoices; process payments and enter transaction details into the system.
4. Generate financial statements and oversee accounting functions for designated programs such as food services and bookstores.
5. Manage accounts payable and receivable throughout the fiscal year.
6. Analyze transaction requisitions for proper documentation and budget compliance; enter journal entries into general ledgers.
7. Monitor budgets for various accounts; oversee billing for project reimbursements and prepare monthly budget reports.
8. Bill state agencies for various projects; prepare journal entries for benefits and fund transfers.
9. Compile expenditure reports for state and county agencies; prepare quarterly and annual financial reports for departments.
10. Enter payroll data; print payroll checks and manage tax form submissions.
11. Reconcile monthly bank statements; prepare financial statements and reports as required.
12. Process student refund requests and coordinate with financial aid for fee deferrals.
13. Analyze cash flow and approve budget transfers.
14. Supervise and train staff involved in cash handling and accounting processes.
15. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required: A combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation, supplemented by college-level coursework in accounting or a related field, along with two years of progressively responsible experience in fiscal record maintenance and accounting.
Knowledge and Skills
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Accounting principles and procedures, invoice auditing, relevant laws and regulations, basic arithmetic, and modern office procedures.
ABILITY TO:
Maintain and balance financial records, perform accounting tasks accurately, audit invoices, understand financial reports, apply relevant laws, compile data for reports, operate office equipment, communicate effectively, and foster positive working relationships.
SALARY RANGE: $4, $5,824.45 monthly; Maximum Entry Level Salary: $4,330.81 monthly
