Position Responsibilities

The Community Outreach Coordinator is part of The Connection Youth Services (TCYS) Street Outreach Team. The Community Outreach Coordinator has the strategic and operational responsibility to cultivate positive collaborative relationships within the community and to design, implement, and document the agency’s education and outreach efforts across the community. The Community Outreach Coordinator is an essential part of TCYS programming; working to assist the TCYS team to provide quality services to runway, homeless, and at-risk youth and families in our community.


General Responsibilities

  • Knowledge and compliance with all LFC agency policies, procedures, and privacy practices
  • Knowledge and compliance with all TCYS program policies and procedures
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and promotion of an environment that is welcoming to all
  • Participation in the agency’s 24-hour on-call crisis intervention and information service
  • Assist with Drop-In Center staffing coverage
  • Participation in staff and supervision meetings
  • Completion of training requirements
  • Participation in community collaboration and workgroups as appropriate
  • Participation in agency fundraiser activities
  • Maintain general cleanliness, organization, and safety of facilities
  • Provide crisis intervention to youth and families in the event of an emergency or crisis situation
  • Obtain and maintain documentation of youth who attend Drop-In Center activities
  • Maintain and assist with the LFC agency website and social media platforms
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary by the Program Director, Executive Director, and/or Board of Directors


Outreach Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement TCYS’ Outreach, Education, and Community Awareness Plan that includes attendance at community events, school presentations, positive youth development activities, and advocacy opportunities
  • Design and disperse agency information flyers, event announcements, and promotional items through social media, public events, and community presentations
  • Cultivate positive community relationships with volunteers, interns, and donors
  • Assist with recruiting, vetting, and supervising volunteers, unpaid interns, and youth seeking community service opportunities
  • Collect, document, and organize the storage of donations
  • Assist with organizing and dispersing donations including holiday gifts and meals


Data Responsibilities

  • Collect and enter HMIS (RHY-HMIS) Street Outreach Program data that includes Drop-In attendance, outreach education and community awareness, and youth events
  • Maintain LFC agency donor data base
  • Assist with creating monthly, quarterly, and annual program progress and data reports
  • Participation in monthly data meetings and trainings as necessary


Youth Council Responsibilities

  • Promote Positive Youth Development (PYD) culture
  • Assist TCYS Youth Council in hosting PYD activities and participation in advocacy opportunities
  • Guide youth in their roles on the TCYS Youth Council and delegate tasks as appropriate
  • Monitor TCYS Youth Council checking account and submit monthly reports for reconciliation
  • Record and submit council attendance, notes, and stipend requests


Qualifications

The Community Outreach Coordinator will be committed to promoting an inclusive work environment and positive team contribution. The preferred candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the human services field
  • Two years of experience working with youth and families
  • Knowledge and experience with social media platforms, Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint software
  • Successfully complete all required criminal checks and health screenings
  • Must be willing and able to work evening and weekend hours as necessary


Benefits and Compensation

The Community Outreach Coordinator is a full-time, non-exempt position. LFC provides a competitive salary and benefits package that includes paid holidays, vacation and self-care/sick time, healthcare and dental insurance, a flexible schedule, and paid staff development opportunities. The starting salary is $35,360 a year and will be commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience.
