Job Summary:

The Customs Specialist at SANY America will be responsible for ensuring that all import and export activities comply with U.S. and international customs regulations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong knowledge of customs laws, regulations, and procedures, and the ability to manage the documentation and clearance process efficiently. SANY America will pay for relocation to Peachtree City (Atlanta area), and this will be a hybrid role. Seeking bi-lingual Chinese candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure all import and export operations adhere to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and international trade laws.
    • Stay updated with changes in customs regulations and communicate necessary adjustments to relevant departments.
  • Documentation and Filing:
    • Prepare and review import/export documentation, including invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
    • File necessary documents with U.S. CBP and other regulatory agencies to facilitate smooth and timely customs clearance.
    • Tracking incoming shipments from exporter in China, India, etc.
    • Customs clearance scheduling, planning, actual completion of Broker.
  • Customs Clearance:
    • Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure timely and accurate clearance of shipments.
    • Resolve any issues related to customs clearance, including tariff classification, valuation, and duty payments.
  • Audits and Reporting:
    • Conduct regular audits of customs entries to ensure compliance and accuracy.
    • Maintain records of all import and export transactions and prepare reports for management as required.
  • Tariff Management:
    • Analyze and classify products according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
    • Advise on duty drawbacks, tariff exemptions, and other cost-saving opportunities.
  • Liaison:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for customs authorities and other regulatory bodies.
    • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., logistics, procurement, sales) and external partners (e.g., freight forwarders, suppliers) to resolve customs-related issues.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in customs operations.
    • Provide training and guidance to staff on customs regulations and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in customs compliance, international trade, or logistics.
    • Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, HTS classification, and import/export procedures.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and customs compliance software.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) certification.
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Fluency in Mandarin or Spanish.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a typical office environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
