Job Description

Main Job Purpose

Provides customer with on -site support for the company. Primary interface to OEM Release Engineers, Buyers, and Quality Engineers. Obtain data from OEM Engineering Teams. Supports OEM Engineering, Plants as Technical Expert for the company’s products.

Primary Responsibilities – Includes, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work with Tesla / Lucid DRE to Initiate or approve, track and record Engineering work Orders (ECRs)
    • Obtain and maintain user ID, initiate/approve  new ECRs for new part releases, usage changes, part changes, BOM initiations, BOM corrections, BSDs (Build Site Direction), Vehicle build reconciliations, Prototype Part Procurement, VA/VE proposals, etc.
    • Track ECRs and facilitate their approval/buy-in.  Modify ECRs as needed based on KOSTAL’s department requirements. Provide supporting documentation for cost and tool estimation from the correct KOSTAL supporting members, support reasons for any changes, work with Tesla / Lucid DRE supporting CAB approval and how those changes are being implemented.
    • Maintain records for support and defense of company’s position.
  • Support all Product Development Team Meetings (PDT)
    • Update PDT minutes ECRs, Cement / Validation Plans / Part number changes
    • Supports Quality and Engineering improvement activities
    • Functions as Customer Representative, ensuring that customer requirements are addressed by working with the Program Manager
    • Help maintain open issues list with Program Manager in a manner that promotes company’s initiatives
  • Initiate, track and record Engineering Change Proposals (ECP)
    • Initiate ECPs at the direction of Tesla / Lucid Engineering or company’s plant. Document requirements and expected results.
    • Track completion through PDT
    • Initiate or Approve ECRs related to ECPs
  • Obtain Approvals (ADVP&R, 5Phase, TALC, AAR)
    • Create documentation need for approvals
    • Hand carry parts or forms to appropriate Tesla / Lucid departments to secure emergency approvals to facilitate production.
    • Participate in special meetings, reviews, vehicle rides etc. at Tesla / Lucid and the Tesla / Lucid development / test facilities.
  • Review schematics and facilitate Drawing/Math Data creation (ICD)
    • Review ICDs for schematics before Tesla / Lucid DRE enters them into the Tesla / Lucid database
    • Review preliminary drawings with KOSTAL engineers and provide mark-ups / feedback back to KOSTAL’s engineer.
    • Facilitate the process of math data drawing releases, math data study releases and math data entry into Team Center thru data transfer person at KOSTAL
  • Support Warranty Analysis and tracking
    • Monitor parts return log for assigned company’s product. Visit warranty center as needed to assist warranty personal if requested
    • Arrange to have NTFs installed in test vehicle if required.
    • Review Repair Order to determine if return was due to associated component or system
    • Attend warranty review as needed for initial inspection.
    • Provide Red-X analysis and testing support.
  • Provide support for A/B Samples (prototype or production FOT parts, essentially DV level), RC2 (OTOP, Essentially PV Level), Pre-Pilot/Quality Build (All Components PPAP’d), Pilot 1 (Customer Saleable, Home-lined), Pilot 2 (Customer Saleable, Home-lined) builds.
    • Provide emergency parts when nothing shows up at MRD due to system errors.
    • Provide wiring schematics and technical help for vehicle issues.
    • Retrofit vehicles with part updates at Tesla / Lucid and Customer Build facilities
    • Provide new parts to bench and other sites as required (part changes, software changes, etc)
  • Provide Tesla / Lucid production plant support for A/B Samples (prototype or production FOT parts, essentially DV level), RC2 (OTOP, Essentially PV Level), Pre-Pilot/Quality Build (All Components PPAP’d), Pilot 1 (Customer Saleable, Home-lined), Pilot 2 (Customer Saleable, Home-lined) builds.
    • Provide support for Plant written PRRs, and plant build issues.
    • Travel to regional production assembly facility when needed for on-site support at all levels
  • Provide component and system testing support
    • Vehicle development and validation testing (software and hardware)
    • Ride-and-drive vehicle testing (software and hardware)
    • Tesla / Lucid system test bench development and validation testing (software and hardware)
  • Attend as required -  Design Reviews, Virtual Build Reviews, vehicle build mock-up reviews, Tesla / Lucid Group Meetings, Tesla / Lucid Employee Meetings, etc
    • Track program timing, component changes, changes to other components that effect our product
    • Provide support to math data design reviews and vehicle/component build reviews
    • Update the Tesla / Lucid team and our company’s team on any team member changes, support role changes, etc.
    • Provide and facilitate contact personnel relationships and support
  • Attend design Staff meetings on site to coach and or re-direct new product developments for manufacturability, fitting within global design requirements using existing designs and supporting new design needs from the customer when required.
  • Contact new local Tier 1 customers to facilitate Timing, PPAP, and parts needs.
    • Aid in setting up lines of communication between Tier 1 and company
    • Attend local Tier 1 PDTs on-site when requested.
  • Aid in new business opportunities through customer meetings and developed relationships.
Qualifications

Education, Experience & Other Requirements

  • 4 year degree from a college or university, preferably Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; or equivalent work related experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering in the Automotive Industry
  • Understanding of Diagnostic tools
  • Experience with OEM systems and procedures
  • Experience with electromechanical components, including diagnostics, CANoe, CAD
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understand of Quality systems and problem solving tools
  • Ability to establish relationships
  • Ability to travel to customer facilities, both domestically and internationally, including Mexico and Canada.
