Job Title: Director of Community Programs

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Work Schedule: 1.0 FTE; Monday-Friday

Salary: Commensurate with experience and Kanza MHGC salary structure.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Director of Community Programs is a key leadership role of Kanza Mental Health & Guidance Center, Inc., responsible for overseeing and enhancing the multidisciplinary adult and youth community programs and services. Programs include youth case management, adult case management, and Assertive Community Treatment. The director is responsible for working effectively within the leadership team to support the vision and mission of the organization and to build and maintain positive internal and community partnerships. The goal of the position is to provide effective leadership and supervision support for the department so that the programs and service providers are equipped to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care that best meets the needs of the population and communities that we serve.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Master’s degree and a valid Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board license as an LMSW or LSCSW, LPC or LCPC, LMFT or LCMFT, or LMLP or LCP. If equivalently licensed by another state, then KS state license must be obtained within one year of coming onboard.

· At least three years’ experience delivering mental health and/or substance use treatment services to a diverse client population.

· At least two years of demonstrated progressive leadership responsibilities supervising teams, making clinic-level decisions, and working as a leader in an organization.

· Must be at least 21 years of age, proficient in the English Language, able to pass pre-employment background and drug screening, and maintain a valid driver’s licen.se and reliable transportation.

· Have completed or is able to complete within the first 120 days of employment essential supervisor trainings, including but not limited to case management and supervision training as required by the State of Kansas.

Job Skills & Knowledge:

· Clinical Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in providing clinical services within the mental health field and substance use field, with a deep understanding of evidence-based practices.

· Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities, including team management, conflict resolution, and the ability to inspire and motivate staff.

· Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing mental health services, including compliance and reporting requirements. Have an expert understanding of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, the Mental Health Reform Act, Professional Ethics, and Risk Management and Quality Improvement Practices.

· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.

· Collaboration: Proven ability to establish and maintain effective, positive collaborations with diverse stakeholders, staff, and community partners.

· Data Analysis: Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to drive program improvements and evaluate outcomes.

· Commitment: Dedication to the mission and values of Kanza, with a passion for advancing mental health services in the community.

· Proficiency in using computer technology, including accessing and using an electronic health record system, email, e-fax, and phone.

Essential Job Functions including but not limited to:

· Clinical Oversight: Provide expert clinical guidance and regular supervision (individual and team), including support for risk management and quality improvement within the department, to ensure the delivery of effective and evidence-based behavioral health services to clients in the community.

· Program Management: Oversee and manage the adult and youth community services programs, ensuring they adhere to best practices and fidelity models, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards, including timely and accurate billing and clinical documentation practices. Will hold self and team members accountable to providing exceptional care and service delivery to clients while achieving agency performance standards and expectations.

· Community Partnerships: Foster, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and other service providers in alignment with Kanza’s vision and mission to enhance the continuum of care, expand resources, and improve access to services.

· Staff Support: Lead and support program staff, promoting a culture of growth, professional development, and excellence in client care and in alignment with the Center’s mission and values and goals. Provide regular supervision, mentoring, and training opportunities.

· Policy and Procedure Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all relevant laws, ethics, policies, and procedures governing mental health services. Actively participate in the development and enhancement of these policies.

· Quality Improvement: Drive continuous quality improvement efforts, including data analysis, to monitor program effectiveness and staffing, and implement necessary enhancements. Utilize outcomes data to guide decision-making.

· Budget Oversight: Assist in establishing the program budget, manage program budgets effectively, identifying cost-effective strategies while maintaining service quality.

· Client-Centered Approach: Champion a person- and family-centered, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed approach, ensuring that services are individualized to meet the unique needs of each client.

· Assure program accessibility to clients when needed (emergent, urgent, or routine referrals), at times and in locations most likely to promote client engagement and choice, and in a culturally competent and appropriate manner.

· Conduct effective liaison activities between the department and staff and between the Center and the community including developing and maintaining strong partnerships with clients and families, schools, social services, law enforcement, housing, and other organizations with whom clients and Kanza interact.

· Inform and direct the hiring, training, supervision, performance management, and at least annual evaluation of all staff members.

· Assure availability of program staff in the procurement of 24/7/365 crisis services.

· Be available for consultation in emergency or urgent situations with program staff and leadership at all times, including after hours and on weekends through cell phone.

· Actively participate on the Risk Management and Quality Improvement Committees and conducts applicable risk management and quality assurance activities

· Ensure that SOAR, state hospital, and nursing facility for mental health liaison services are available and provided.

· Other duties as reasonably assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Supervises the CBS Supervisor, CSS Supervisor, and ACT Lead.

Physical Demands:

· Frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. Regularly required to move around the office building and drive a vehicle. Frequently required to talk on a phone, use a computer, and communicate verbally, through type, and in writing.

Work Environment:

· Main worksite will be Community Support Building but travel to other locations is expected and required

· Professional and deadline-oriented office setting environment

· Interactive with a multidisciplinary team of staff
