About Off-Center

What began in 2010 as a small theatrical test kitchen has grown into a signature line of programming at the DCPA, credited with bringing immersive theatre to Colorado and helping establish Denver as a national hub for immersive art. No two Off-Center experiences are exactly alike but they all have one thing in common: putting you at the center of the story. Immerse yourself in an experience unlike any other.

About MONOPOLY LIFESIZED

Monopoly Lifesized is exactly what it sounds like – a life-sized version of the world’s favorite board game. Four teams of up to six people compete in a 60-minute game in a high-energy interactive experience that uses a range of theatrical effects including loud music and sounds, flashing lights, timed-rounds, group participation, and a mix of physical and mental puzzles and games that test players’ skills and creative thinking.

Each 60-minute game of Monopoly Lifesized is played on a 50’x50’ board. Each board can host up to 24 people divided into four teams that play against each other. DCPA Off-Center at Broadway Park will host four boards with individual games starting every 15 minutes. Monopoly Lifesized will run for the general public Tuesday to Sunday from October 22nd, 2024 through April 13th, 2025 with test audiences from October 18-20th, 2024.

Work Conditions

Monopoly Lifesized: Travel Edition will operate out of the DCPA Off-Center at Broadway Park building located at 407 S. Broadway, Denver, CO 80209.


Job Purpose

The Assistant Operations Manager oversees the entire Monopoly Lifesized experience, standing in as the manager on duty in the absence of the Operations Manager, leading Experience Attendants and Crew members, and serving as the first point of contact on-site for Security, Merchandise, and the Bar staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise Stagehands, Experience Attendants (EAs) who scan tickets and onboard guests upon arrival, as well as Hosts who lead game play. Manage the flow of guests and help EAs to lead pre-show audience coordination and onboarding speeches.
  • Manage the de-escalation of disruptive guests and have difficult conversations as necessary.
  • Ensure guests have a safe and positive experience by engaging with them, assisting them, and enforcing the rules and policies of Monopoly Lifesized.
  • Prepare, distribute, and file daily show reports and incident reports in timely manner. Communicate with supervisor about all incidents.
  • Assist with making staffing schedules and managing Host and EA shift rotations.
  • Act as Incident Commander for emergency situations, coordinating with Security, Emergency Services and team, until Emergency Responders arrive. This may include medical, evacuations and shelter in place situations. Render First Aid and CPR if necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and personal information.
  • Know, understand, and be ready to cover EA responsibilities as needed.
  • Available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the experience, as determined by supervisor.


Qualifications

  • Experience managing a team and leading a complex event or production.
  • Demonstrated commitment to engage people of various ages, backgrounds and abilities in past work and an ability to interact and communicate professionally, courteously and effectively with a wide range of visitors.
  • Professionalism, poise under pressure, and a positive attitude towards the organization and co-workers. Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to fill out forms accurately and completely.
  • Able to take command of a situation and speak in front of groups of people.
  • Ability to resolve customer service concerns using reasoning and public relations skills in a professional manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • CPR certified and first responder skills preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a cultural facility with culturally diverse personnel and patrons, and previous experience with Off-Center is preferred.
  • Conversational Spanish a benefit.


Supervisor Responsibilities
Yes. Supervise EAs, Hosts, and Stagehands while acting as Manager on Duty.


Physical Requirements

Must be able to move between rooms, reading tickets in various forms, and using technology including tablets, ticket scanners, and radios with earpieces.

Compensation

$24.00 – $26.00 per hour, between 30 - 40 hours per week. Temporary position from October 8, 2024 – April 13, 2025.
